TRAY
This is one of the brief of RSA Student Design Awards for 2014/15. It asked designers to design a way to make healthy eating appealing to young people. Poor diets are a major issue affecting young people’s health across China, 1 in 5 aged 11-17 teenager are overweight, 1 in 3 teenager under 17 are faced with cardiovascular risk. They are mostly middle school or high school students, and they go to school canteen for every meal in a day. Balance tray is especially design for this situation, aiming to provide a eat-well experience in campus. This project was done individually.
RESEARCH How to eat well ? The goal of healthy eating is to develop a diet that you can maintain for life, not just a few weeks or months, or until you’ve hit your ideal weight. For most of us, that means eating less than we do now. More specifically, it means eating far less of the unhealthy stuff (refined sugar, saturated fat, for example) and replacing it with the healthy (such as fresh fruit and vegetables).
FIELD RESEARCH
In the school canteen, students can choose from three category of food, vegetable dishes, protein dishes and cereal.
RESEARCH How much to take in a day ? After the research on how much different type of food people should eat a day to maintain healthy, and considering the food available in canteen, a table was created to show a rough idea about the amount of food student suggested to eat in a day.

Portable Hard Drive
RHINO The brief of this project is to understand design SEMANTICS when designing a portable hard drive, which means not only designing the shapes, but also giving the shape meanings. In this case, I take an inspiration from the animal - RHINO, especially when a rhino mother try to protect her child, taking curves of its body and try to translate the design language to my design, showing protection and high performance feeling.
This project was done individually.
RESEARCH ON SEMANTIC Product Semantics is a term that describes a method of giving form or shape to a product that gives the user an insight to the products purpose. The product or a detail of the product becomes a metaphor for the items purpose.
