1. Diwaan-e-Aaftab “Hayat leke chalo, Kainat leke chalo, Chalo toh saare zamane ko saath leke chalo!” This design was an experiment to look at the heritage and culture of twin cities of Hyderabad through the eyes of Cubism. It does so in a very conceptual way by studying the deisgn philosophies used during the construction and design of the famous monuments of the twin cities. That is, inspiration from famous monuments was not taken in it’s physical form but rather, from it’s thought and planning. For example, a structure like the Charminar can be reinterpreted as 4 points in it’s most basic form. This reinterpretation was taken as the core principle in the design and planning of the U-HUB which has a very obvious 4-part division and planning. Since the project was of a very large scale, multiple structures were to be designed. For this portfolio, the U-Hub (office spaces for start ups) has been majorly focused on with a brief glimpse at the other structures.

2. To Follow the Silk Route

The brief required to design a cultural centre for all in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. Revisiting the traditional roots of the silk route cities, the design had to create a community space and provide a better experience for all. The world knows silk route as a medium to advocate trade. What is most often ignored are the memories that were formed during this barter, the emotions that were felt and exchanged. The connections that were made among people of diverse cultures and religions which was thought impossible. The site represents the world as it was 700 years ago. The aim is for the users to experience this world, one at the brink of revolution, one that was responsible for creating the very roots of global trade and exchange.

3. Operation R.I.C.

TU Delft’s Summer School 2022 ‘Design and Planning for the Just City’ focused on creating a VISION for the neighbourhood of South Scheveningen in The Hague, The Netherlands. This area is at a constant threat of flooding due to its proximity to the ocean. The other threat to this area was it’s obvious seclusion from the more developed areas of The Hague. This vision focuses on 3 mains values: Resilience, Inclusivity and Connectivity. Hence, Operation RIC! I went one step further to also create a marketting strategy in the form of a character called RIC (inspired from the dutch tulips) that would represent the vision and better communicate it to the mass public.

This is RIC! A visual representation of our vision.
