TENNIS NOTES

When the First IV have a Home fixture, the Second IV, Year 12, Year 11, Year 10 and Year 9 teams also play ‘home’ matches. Remaining teams play away.

When the First IV have an Away fixture, the Year 8, Year 7, Year 6 and Year 5 teams play ‘home’ matches. Remaining teams play away.

It is important to remember that by signing up to Tennis, as with all sports and activities at TGS, it is expected that boys will be committed to each training session and fixture throughout the season. In extenuating circumstances, it is the responsibility of the player to notify coaches, or the Head of Tennis, if they are unavailable to play well in advance of a fixture. With training sessions, boys are also required to notify coaches or the Head of Tennis if they are unable to attend.

BYE ROUNDS / SUPPLEMENTARY DRAWS

While the GPS Tennis Season is structured as per the above draw, unfortunately, not all Schools have the same number of teams. In the spirit of attempting to provide a cricket experience for our boys every Saturday, teams who do not have a match as part of the regular draw are then placed in the “Supplementary Draw”. Being added to the Supplementary Draw may result in a TGS team playing against a different opposition to what the draw above would suggest. It may also require matches to be played at different venues. The Supplementary Draw is updated regularly, and players and parents are to carefully check the weekly draw publication to confirm the venue and game time each week. Teams will be placed in the Supplementary Draw on the Round 5 BYE Round. All teams, and players, must be available to play on Round 5.
