Hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Give for Good Louisville returns Thursday, September 15, 2022. According to Community Foundation of Louisville Marketing & Communications Manager Christina Miller, “Give for Good Louisville is an online giving day that demonstrates how the small contributions of many make a huge impact across Kentuckiana. On September 15, people will have the chance to learn about participating organizations, attend local giving day events, and support the causes they love most at giveforgoodlouisville.org.” Since its 2014 inception, the annual event has raised over $42.5 million for qualifying organizations in Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, and Spencer counties in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana. “Give for Good Louisville is your chance to take intentional action towards the issues our community faces today by getting involved as a donor, fundraiser, or advocate,” says Miller. “It’s also an excellent opportunity for families to role model philanthropy and inspire the next generation to give and live generously.” Miller encourages people to connect to smaller, grassroots organizations they may never have given to previously. These organizations are often “boots on the ground” and closest to people who need help the most. She is inspired by how organizations collaborate to support each other’s work, such as Fund for the Arts ArtsMatch with Queer Kentucky. Give for Good Louisville offers local companies the chance to demonstrate their commitment to philanthropic work while engaging their employees and customers in unique ways. Like an employee giving program, local companies can easily sign up to host a business fundraiser during the online giving day. “When businesses support local organizations, everyone benefi ts. It is not a day of competition, so much as a day of collaboration.” A little healthy competition doesn’t hurt either. Churchill Downs Incorporated came out on top as the #1 giver last year.

What motivates people to give during Give for Good Louisville versus any other day of the year is the cash prize pool that goes directly to participating organizations. Donors can have the impact of their gift go further through random $1,000 boosts, and organizations can unlock cash prizes by achieving certain fundraising goals. Thanks to the generosity of this year's prize partners, including Presenting Prize Partners Sam Swope Family Foundation and Churchill Downs Incorporated, Give for Good Louisville 2022 will have the largest prize pool in giving day history at over $450,000, compared to last year's prize pool of $375,000. 2021’s Give for Good campaign brought in donors from all fifty states and over forty countries worldwide. Over 22,400 donors gave more than $8.9 million. In 2021, donors on average made larger gifts than in previous years and gave to more than one organization. Miller is hoping to exceed $10 million in 2022. “We have had a streak of record-breaking years, and we want to keep that energy!” Become a fundraising champion by creating an individual fundraiser profile and sharing the link to your networks. The profile is easy to set up, and the link involves more community members in fundraising.
