Sinayo Securities is a South African, independent, majority-black female-owned member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). We specialise in South African equity sales and trading for institutional investors.

We own 55% equity of Constellation Capital; through this vehicle we provide a variety of derivative products and solutions.
• We own 51% of Optimize, which enables us to provide script lending capabilities.
• We have partnered with Frost and Sullivan, to provide our clients with themed research.
• We also have a partnership with Software Design.
African Rainbow Capital (Pty) Ltd (“ARC”), a long-term investment company, has a 49% stake in Sinayo Securities. Babalwa Ngonyama is the CEO of Sinayo and major shareholder.
SED ACTIVITY:
Golden Ark NGO, a care centre that feeds and educates 180 to 200 children between the ages of five and eighteen. We believe in nurturing talent, growth and looking after the well-being of South Africa’s children. We support and aim to strengthen them, build their focus and encourage them to strive for a bright future. We firmly believe that every child should be afforded an opportunity to grow up and become an exceptional South African citizen.

EXCITING HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE YEAR
Project Funda hosted its first course in July 2021, Excel with Financial Modelling, which was presented by Michael Ngarachu; he holds a CFA level 1 and is currently the Deals Executive - Private Equity at Capital Work.
The main aim of the course was the understanding that graduates and young professionals may have a fair understanding of excel; They learned how the different functions work and how one can use excel to build models; such as Rating tables, P/E, Ebita etc. At the end of the course they were given a case study to apply all that they had learned during the week and present it, individually. The aim with the presentation element was to build their understanding and confidence.
SINAYO GROWTH AND CHANGES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS
Sinayo’s focus on client relationships and strategic partnerships has led to (steady or aggressive or exponential – pick one) growth in our market share, trading capacity and turnover over the last 5 years.
Our market share increased by 20% in the 2021 financial year and our experienced trading team is well positioned for continued growth, despite challenging market conditions.

EXECUTION WITH EXCELLENCE BABALWA NGONYAMA
Babalwa Ngonyama is the CEO and major shareholder of Sinayo Securities. Her vision for the company is to democratise access to capital markets, especially for the unserved and underserved segments of the market. Ngonyama has created a disruptive business model to empower and drive transformation and participation by the youth and women in the financial sector. Ngonyama believes that through Sinayo Securities, both women and the youth will have the ability to create wealth, which is a necessary tool in the society we live in today.
In July 2020 Babalwa was appointed UCT’s Chair of Council. The appointment was historic in many ways as she was the first woman to hold the position of Chair of the Council since the inception of the university. This important role directly aligned to her vision of developing human intellect through education and skills development. Babalwa is a custodian of promoting fair educational access to all South Africans and developing a quality educational platform that will unleash human potential and create a fair Under her guidance in 2021, the University launched the UCT Online High School. The launch was a demonstration that UCT is committed to solving the key problems of the continent: unleashing the creative, academic and professional potential of Africa’s children.
The UCT High School will assist in creating a platform to develop leaders at an early age, who shall be able to perform at distinguished levels at the tertiary level and beyond. Through our innovative and robust curriculum, we are in a position to empower the youth to be competitive at a global stage and elevate their thinking which will enable them to be leaders that can challenge the status quo and develop new ways of thinking that will serve the global society.
Babalwa has also created other powerful platforms to accelerate the development of women and youth in he financial sector:
PROJECT FUNDA.
A two-year graduate programme that fast tracks the development of young professionals in the financial services sector through extensive training, mentoring and exposure to industry captains.
THE AFRICAN WOMEN CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS
The African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA), is an organisation whose key aim is to accelerate the development of black female Chartered Accountants. In offering advice to young female professionals, Babalwa stresses four characteristics :
1. Women should have a vision of what they want to achieve.
2. Do not let anyone undermine you. Once your vision is set, concentrate on execution with excellence. Build your intellect and strengthen your mind
3. Women need to build resilience through embracing their challenges and not be defined by their failures.
4. Women should align themselves with right people and mentors for support, inspiration and encouragement.
Be consistent, once you are consistent your actions become very powerful. Remember, the wind blowing in one direction has power.
The challenges will always be present, they come in buckets, and this is a fact of life, however, the challenges should not cripple you to inaction, embrace them, be resolute and keep moving. You rest you rust.
