Learning about Applied Anthropology
• Students will demonstrate an understanding of the variety of ways in which anthropology is applied. • Students will show expertise in at least one domain of application of anthropology (e.g., cultural resource management, health and medicine, and development).
• Students will have an understanding of the theoretical foundations of anthropology. • Students will have a working knowledge of methods and techniques employed in applied research.
• Students will demonstrate an understanding of the ethical foundations and expectations of professional anthropologists.
• Students will show expertise in a relevant skill (e.g., a foreign language, statistics, GIS, film production or web design). • Students will have the ability to prepare research proposals, grant applications, professional reports, and academic papers.
• Students will have experience working in an agency or organization in an applied, professional capacity.
• Students will have the ability to give clear and effective presentations. • Students will have the ability to design, conduct, and report on an archaeological or ethnographic research project.
