SPRING 2019 SYSTEMS INTEGRATION STUDIO: ALTER 415. The objective of this studio is to introduce a systems approach to interior architectural design. The projected selected is “ALTER 415” from Fall 2017. The space is currently being updated based on new found knowledge about basic building systems and it’s relationship to interior architecture. Alter 415 aims to bring social interaction. The site consists of a maker space, social space, retail, lofts and retreat space. Through manipulation of it’s original structure, these spaces are shifted apart but remain connected through a main path of circulation. custom graphics were designed to bring a pop of color through wall applications and furniture.

FALL 2018 HEXAGONS FOR HEALING: PROJECT FOR SASH The design of this campus derived from the simplicity of the hexagon. The shape has all equal sides, making it perfect for ample sightlines. The form allows the organization of pods. These pods come in multiple configurations. Overall giving a sense of a unique environment while also being tight, and secure. A nurse station and courtyard were incorporated in several units. Reducing the ample space and creating a safer, person centered design. Patients and staff have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor courtyard without leaving the unit.

WAYFINDING
We have come up with a wayfinding strategy that includes recognizable icons based on different species of bugs and flowers. Each building was assigned a different color, a bug icon and an icon of a flower.
FOOD SERVICE CIRCULATION
The bug icon is used to highlight public spaces and the flower icon highlights private spaces. This strategy has been applied on public and private entrances /exits on the exterior of the building as well. While color has been applied to the exterior faceted coverings as well as interior color schemes. This way all users can recognize different buildings with ease.

ITALY: TRANSECT BOARD
SCULPTURE IS THE EXPRESSION OF AN IDENTITY. EXPRESSING IT’S BEAUTY THROUGH THE CONNECTION OF LIFE AND FORM. WANTING TO ENHANCE ARCHITECTURE, NOT COMPETE. USING MATERIALS USED IN ARCHITECTURE, TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES. THE ROLE OF THE DESIGNER IS TO ENGAGE WITH THIS PRE-EXISTING WEB AND ARTICULATE IT, SMALL OR LARGE, IN THE ONGOING DIALECT OF ARCHITECTURE.

SPRING 2017 DESIGN STUDIOS ALTERED VIEW: HOTEL
DESIGN INTENTION: Through an altered manipulation of the structure: the west, east and central core redefines what is being viewed from the hotel. Allowing a huge benefit to the quality of light within the interior and access to views up and down the street and river. Resulting in a shift in its geometry.
