Dian Luo, an up-and-coming Chinese jewellery designer graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and currently base in London. She is talented in expressing the thought of lives by using insignificant object surrounding us, “I want the audience to pay attention on something insubstantial but powerful” she said, “everything has its own reason to exist.” “Her jewellery was not just an accessory, it carried a message and illustrated the artistic depth a single piece can hold.” Said by British famous blogger from Liv a little. Using light as the design source, Dian transforms it from abstractive element into a multiplicity of geometric jewellery piece that plays with shadow and movement. She combines modern technology with ornaments to replace the transitional jewellery which makes people to reconsider the value of precious metals and stones.
Brighten 2013
This collection is inspired by cactus, protecting themselves against terrible environment reminds me the power of women. The mystery of the female inner world is the centre of the collection. The pieces are beautifully made by black mirror cardboards and different papers into geometric shapes plus the use of LED lighting which provide two phases to my collection. LED Off The pieces expose the calmness and softness of female. Additionally with the softness of paper, frangibility is not hard to be observed. LED On The prickly and sparkle shadow that the pieces create reflects sophistication and firmness as another part of their essence.
The collection can be worn for fashion shows, photo shooting, or any dramatic events. It can also be shown in contemporary exhibitions, such as Design Museum or Tate Modern Museum.
