Dear Tourism Partner, Thank you for your interest in joining the Tourism Leadership Council (TLC). The TLC serves as the leading trade organization for the second largest industry, tourism. With 13 million visitors a year, most people in Savannah are affected by tourism. Not surprisingly, there are 24,000 tourism workers who represent this $2.5 billion dollar annual economic impact. Whether you are a restaurant, a retail shop, a hotel, an attraction, or you want your business to be more related to the industry, this membership will help you to make connections with the decision makers of tourism. As a member, we have a series of benefits that are highlighted in this packet. Each of these programs and activities are designed to assist in strengthening your business. And, we are always looking for ways to do more for you. With the TLC, the business retains the membership rather than an individual. So, all of your employees are TLC members. We are excited to see you join us at the Tourism Leadership Council. Call me at 912.232.1223 if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you!

For Tourism,

Michael T. Owens President / CEO Tourism Leadership Council

{We are dedicated to making you never feel like you are alone.}

In our advocacy efforts, we call upon the years of expertise and countless connections and relationships of our Board of Directors and staff. Those relationships include government representatives and industry insiders. We also sit on many task-forces, committees, and boards that make the big and small decisions that affect your business.

Ways

to

Connect

TLC Connection Luncheons

Build bonds with industry professionals at the TLC Connection Luncheons. At the luncheons, a dynamic speaker discusses important issues related to tourism. Both luncheons and socials give you time to connect with industry professionals, and they feature different venues for you to check out.

I AM TOURISM

The I AM TOURISM campaign focuses on your employees. With this program, all of your workers will be offered the opportunity to invest in themselves with a substantial return on a minimal investment. That investment will get them the I AM TOURISM card, a discount card that offers everything from childcare, health screenings, and a myriad of discounts for life’s necessities. We offer discounts when businesses buy cards in bulk for their employees.

Savannah Food & Wine Festival

Set in November, this week-long festival features the best of the best of food and wine in Savannah and around the Southeast. Events such as the Celebrity Chef Tour, featuring James Beard Award-winning chefs, Taste of Savannah, and the River Street Stroll are a popular draw for the festival, which attracts both local and outof-town guests. TLC member businesses can participate and sponsor events while also showcasing their cuisine. The Savannah Food & Wine Festival is also an event to help the community. The 2014 festival raised more than $50,000 for local charities like the Savannah Harbor Foundation, United Way of the Coastal Empire, and the West Broad Street YMCA.

to

Connect

Tourism Awards & Scholarship Dinner

Early in the year, we set aside time to honor some of the 24,000 people who work in tourism in Savannah. Those who have made a strong impact on tourism receive awards, and several students accept scholarships to pursue education in hospitality and tourism. Over the years, we have awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships.

TLC Golf Tournament

Held every year in the spring, this golf tournament boasts tourism professionals who know how to have a good time. Last year, players and participants had three square meals and drinks (adult and otherwise) around each corner. It’s the perfect way to have fun and make business connections on the links. The TLC golf tournament raises money for the TLC scholarship fund.

Coastal Concierge Association

The success of our city’s concierge depends on how well they connect and provide for our guests. The Tourism Leadership Council is helping this group of hotel frontline workers reach that success through the Coastal Concierge Association. Mixers are held regularly and begin with an interactive lesson about frontline customer service. Various businesses host the group to show off their products or services to a focused group of people who recommend these products and services to our guests. The Coastal Concierge Association also offers a certification program for frontline employees with six classes that cover topics such as customer service, professionalism and experience planning.
