From the start it winds itself as foot path about 1 km parallel to the river Pfrimm toward the town Wachenheim by a closely wooded, nature-left area. Besides pure nature there are a lot of informational signposts about birds to discover. At its end the trail reaches the hidden “red bridge”. The return trip can be done on the other side of the river that can be crossed by a nearby metal-bridge. It was primar residence of the Pfalzgrafen and later secondary residence and seat of upper office administration. After the development to a castle in 16th Century its destruction took place 1689 in the so-called palatine succession war. At the beginning of 20th Century the ruin was rebuilt after the copper pass of M. Merian and is used until today as district court and boarding school. • Castle of Hambach: The name Hambach is connected inseparably with the Hambacher party (1832). At that time thousands of people demonstrated for democratic rights and the German unity on foot to the medieval chestnut castle which is called since that time Hambacher castle. • Castle of Worms-Herrnsheim: The Castle is surrounded by an English garden with meadows, forest surfaces and a pond with an island as well. Location: Worms-Herrnsheim. • Castle of Mannheim: The castle originated from 1720 under elector Carl Philipp as one of the biggest absolutistic baroque castles on the Upper Rhine. Since April, 2007 it shines in new glance. With the restoration of the Enfilade in the Beletage it got back his heart. Once dwelling of Heinrich von Gagern, president of the 1st German national assembly in the Frankfurt Paulskirche 1848. Location of the famous Hinkelstein, which gave its name to the Hinkelstein epoch. Located at the western end of Monsheim´s main street. • Castle of Schwetzingen: In 1350 a knightly moated castle was mentioned for the first time in a document in Schwetzingen. During the 30-year-old war the castle was destroyed and built again. In 1689 it rose in the Pfalz-Orleons war in flames, then it was built up once more, then, nevertheless, it was neglected and considered only in 1724-1799 again. Dinotherium-Museum in townhall of Eppelsheim (9 km): By finds in the Dinotheria-sands Eppelsheim in the scientific world became famous. The complete upper head of a Dinotherium giganteum (fright animal) was saved in 1835. A casting of the head is in the small however fine museum. After the legend their design was brought of Italian migratory workers into the local region. Wine rest with panoramic view (Weinrast mit Weiblick): On 25 April 2010 „the wine rest with panoramic view “ in Mölsheim starts into its third season. By 31 October winegrowers of the Zellertals and the Wonnegaugemeinden at all sun- and holidays at one of the most beautiful lookout points of the valley.
