We are pleased to welcome you to the 2016 Designers’ Show House, a beautiful English Tudor-styled home built in 1927 for American aircraft designer and VP of Engineering at Packard Motor Car Company, Colonel Jesse G. Vincent.
This spectacular home has undergone incredible reconstruction over the last 18 months to bring it back to its original splendor. On the inside, the original wood floors, wood paneling and even the kitchen cabinets and original Kelvinator refrigerators have been refurbished. On the outside, the very unique canal which runs from Lake St. Clair to a dry dock under the living room has been rebuilt; a fountain with a copper elephant’s head and another fountain with cascading ponds have been restored.
The breathtaking location on Lake St. Clair and the unique craftsmanship of this home have inspired our talented designers, landscapers and artists as they each reveal their originality and skills in the fabulous spaces they created. We wish to thank our returning partners and those new to our Show House, along with all the tradesmen who helped them. We gratefully appreciate their kindness, patience, dedication and generosity in creating the beautiful rooms and gardens of this home. We are amazed by their talent and are forever grateful for their support of the Designers’ Show House. This truly could not happen without them!
We extend special gratitude to the generous homeowners who have entrusted us with their home and supported this endeavor in many ways. We also wish to thank this year’s Corporate and Individual Sponsors and supporters for their generosity; as well as our devoted Steering Committee, all members of the Junior League of Detroit, our families and friends. We sincerely appreciate the kindness and support of the neighbors as well as the Mayor, City Manager, Council and Public Safety Director of the City of Grosse Pointe Park.
We hope you enjoy visiting this Designers’ Show House and sincerely thank you for being here. Please know that your support helps us continue our mission of elevating the lives of children in the Detroit community.
Thank you,
Sabine Iafrate and Ann Brady Baxter
