All in-person registrations can be completed at the Livingston Activity Centre (18 Livingston Avenue)

Online registrations require credit card use and a one time $2 nonrefundable convenience fee will be applied. Phone registrations are not subject to the convenience fee.

Cheques are payable to the Town of Grimsby and must be dated the day of registration. NSF Cheques are subject to a $25 administrative fee and require immediate correction for the space to be held. If you require financial assistance for program fees, please contact us and we will review assistance options prior to registration.

Public Skate Rules

Please observe the following skate rules to ensure a fun experience for everyone:

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult Public skates are supervised by staff, but direct supervision of children is not provided

Properly fitted, CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all patrons

Strollers and baby carriers are not permitted on the ice Skates are required on the ice

Sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating

Weekly Schedule for All Ages

Public skating is a great recreational outing for a family or group of friends. It’s active, it’s fun, and it’s social! Our public skates are open to all ages and skating abilities.

Schedule for Preschool

A public skating time for young ones who are just learning to skate. Sticks and pucks are not permitted. Skate aides are available. Strollers are permitted for this skate, parent/caregiver must also go on the ice. Helmets required. Drop-in program (no pre-registration required).

Preschool Skating Lessons

SKATING PROGRAMS

Your little one is ready to lace up a pair of skates, and we have the perfect place for you to do that! Our preschool skating program offers a fun, casual skating environment that will get children skating on their own with a great big smile. The program incorporates games and songs. One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Skate aids will be available as needed.

Learn to Skate

For children who are not yet comfortable skating and want to improve their skills! This program focuses on the basics of skating, incorporating skill development, fun and games It is preferred that participants have been on skates a few times before the classes Coach Gail has taught many Grimsby children how to skate, come and see why her classes continue to fill! Skate aids will be available as needed

Ticket ice is intended to act as a supplemental ice time for figure skaters looking to add an extra lesson or practice before a test, competition or showcase.

Noon Hour Hockey

Join in, whenever you can, with our noon hour hockey pick up program. Always a different group of people, always a lot of fun. This is a drop in shinny program that is open to anyone 16 years of age and older. Full protective equipment is required.

Adult Skating Lessons

This program is an introductory class that teaches the basic fundamentals of skating and is designed for adults 18+. The class will consist of basic skating development, to more advanced skills. CSA approved hockey helmet is strongly recommended for new skaters.

Ticket Ice

Sportball provides non-competitive sports instruction for children ages 16 months to 10 years We want kids to develop physical literacy and a life-long love of movement and sport We place our emphasis on competence and confidence building, socialization and overall fun.

If we asked one of our Sportball parents to dream up their child's ultimate class, it would probably end up looking a lot like our star program, Multi-Sport. Multi-sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with new skills from a different sport each class. Please note Parent and Child Multi-Sport requires an adult to participate in each class.

Each artist will plan, design and create their own whimsical world in a box! Using paint, paper, clay and more artists will create a miniature door, wall paper, furniture and all the miniature elements they can imagine using the supplied materials!

YOUTH SAFETY COURSES

Virtual children’s safety classes are taught over one day through Zoom Meeting technology. Classes are led by a live instructor and each program includes interactive digital media to help learn key messages. Participants will need a device with camera & microphone (laptop, tablet, smart phone) as well as high-speed internet connection In-person one day classes are also available – see schedule below

This program helps participants learn how to care for other children. Topics include Care for Children of all Ages (diapering, feeding, naps/sleep, and activities), Leadership Styles, Problem-Solving Strategies, First Aid and Accident Prevention. All participants will receive a digital copy of the Red Cross Babysitter's manual and upon completion of the course will receive a hard copy of the manual along with their certificate by mail. After School Art Club is the ultimate space for youth and teens to get together, socialize, meet like-minded creatives, and really hone-in their artistic abilities Whether you are new to art or already consider yourself a pro, these classes have something for everyone. Proficiency in Portraiture: Introductory Workshop with Erin Gillis

Join artist Erin Gillis in a two-class session to learn the basic technical skills needed to achieve a solid foundation in creating a realistic portrait. Topics such as perspective, line, shape, shading, and measurement will be covered with graphite as the medium This engaging class is accessible to beginners as well as any artists looking to brush up on their skills in portraiture

Open Studio Figure Drawing

Practice and refine your skills with our Figure Drawing sessions. Drawing the human form live is an essential exercise for artists of all abilities, mediums, and styles. Get into the practice with quick studies, gestures, and extended poses, clothed and unclothed. Participants are self-directed and without an instructor in an open studio format Participants are to provide their own drawing board, paper, and materials of choice

Kiss the Canvas: A Klimt Inspired Sip & Paint

The love is pouring in this Valentines Day! Sip, snack, and paint the night away with your Valentine (or better yet, you and your single besties!) as our instructor guides you through re-creating Gustav Klimt’s romantic masterpiece, The Kiss All materials are provided and whether you’re an art pro or have never painted in your life, you’ll leave this Sip & Paint evening with a renewed passion for art and your own original masterpiece that is *chef’s kiss*.

The Grimsby Seniors Club has been in operation for over 50 years, and has approximately 450 members. The club is run out of the Livingston Activity Centre, The club offers a wide variety of activities, events and social opportunities for community members who are 55 years +. Stop by to visit the centre and pick up a newsletter for upcoming events and activities.

Annual membership is required for participation in club activities. The 2025 fee is $25, including HST.

An additional activity fee of $0.50 cents will apply for all drop-in recreational programs.

Mahjong

Mahjong is played with 3 or 4 players using Chinese tiles. These are the same tiles used on the Mahjong "match game" on the computer. Each year a card is sold by the National Mahjong League the "Official Standard Hands and Rules". The objective is to make up one of these "hands" using 14 tiles. Free instruction is available by existing players on play dates. Group is made up of fun-loving players who are patient and kind.

Pickleball

Call for court times Pickleball is a racket sport that combines tennis, badminton and table tennis. The fastest growing popular sport for older adults.
