Introduction
Over the past two years, the Town of Victoria Park has undertaken a significant community engagement process to review its current event offering, and what it might look like for local residents, and visitors, resulting in the Town’s first Events Strategy 2022–2026.
Events (and activations) are special, in that they can positively contribute to our community in many different ways.
Events and Activations:

Events attract people to a location they otherwise might not have visited
Creates a welcome and interactive street life
Animated public spaces create a local identity, sense of belonging and pride.

Increased pedestrian activity generates economic benefits to local businesses
Facilitates a strong local economy
Research and statistics show that events on average generate $3 for each $1 invested.
"EVENTS ATTRACT PEOPLE TO A LOCATION THEY OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT HAVE VISITED."
Strategic Alignment
The Annual Events Plan is a document that details what will be delivered by the Town of Victoria Park in the coming year, as well as outline the Days of Significance the Town intends to acknowledge.
The Town will work collaboratively with local community groups and stakeholders so the Annual Events Plan complements other event and activity offerings. Through this document, all parties have a clear understanding of focus areas and resources for the coming year related to events produced and supported by the Town’s Events team and other internal teams.

Days of Significance
There are many days of cultural and religious significance celebrated in Australia and around the world, with the Department of Home Affairs listing over 130 recognised days of significance occurring each year.
Local Governments are often asked to be part of these celebrations, which can be challenging as there are so many occurring each year that are important to our community. To be able to provide a sustainable program of support for days of significance, our priority for 2022−23 will be the following days:
