SPRING 2017

EDWARD MILLEN

ARTS SEASON CALL-OUT

A message from your Mayor

Calling amateur and aspiring young musicians! We are offering an opportunity to perform as the pre-show entertainment for Perth band Verge Collection as part of our Twilight Trio concert series in January. You can be a solo musician, duo, band or orchestra – anyone is welcome to apply. The chosen performer will play on stage to a large crowd, and be featured in promotions for the concert. You must be 16 – 25 years old, non-professional, be able to supply your own instruments, play a 20 minute set, be available on 28 January 2018 and reside within the Town. To apply send us footage of you performing – even if it’s your mum filming on her phone. We only want one song which can be sent directly to nnolan@vicpark.wa.gov.au.

Hello everyone I hope you’re enjoying the lovely spring weather we’re experiencing here in the Town. As it gets warmer, be on the lookout for more events and activities around the community, like the Garage Sale Trail this weekend, and the Summer Street Party on November 19. You should have received your events calendar in the mail, and you can always view the events listing on our website. I want to use this opportunity to remind you that local government elections are happening this Saturday 21 October, and urge you to cast your vote to choose your next Councillors if you haven’t already done so. There are four elected member positions to be filled, two in Banksia Ward and two in Jarrah Ward. You can view the candidates online at vicpk.co/votevicpark17 and in person on the noticeboards at the Town admin centre and library. Time is running out to send your vote by post – it needs to be received by the returning officer before 6pm on Saturday. You can hand deliver your voting package at Town admin during business hours up until election day, and between 8am to 6pm on election day. Have your say – and vote Vic Park. The Pipes for Perth project is still underway on Albany Highway. It is expected to be complete in November. Please continue to support the businesses in the area during these much-needed works.

We will be giving tours of the site, sharing the history and letting people explore this hidden gem. You will also have an opportunity to let us know what you think should be considered for the future of the site. Find out more about our favourite 106-year-old building at vicpk.co/edmillen.
