This year’s Arts Season is an exciting program of debuts! Best of all, it’s predominantly presented by local community groups and artists. From Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror celebrating silent film with live music, to the inaugural Vic Park Projection Festival aiming to light up Albany Highway, there is something for everyone. Highlights include the Astrofest Astrophotography exhibition, Cosmology concert with international violin virtuoso Rupert Guenther, and local elder Roni Forrest creating sand art at McCallum Park. And FRANK will paint the Mint St Deli! There will be Park Flicks, a street art walking tour, popup portraits, mural painting, mindfulness exercises with baroque music just to name 4
a few. Guerrilla Grannies (and Grandpas) can channel their inner street artist, and the Making Noise workshop makes a popular return. Picasso said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”. It is our privilege to showcase the extraordinary creative talents within our Town. I encourage everyone to find time to enjoy an artistic diversion from everyday life. KAREN VERNON MAYOR
