FISHING: This fourteen mile-long lake, with a maximum depth of seven feet, provides all-season fishing fun with its abundant walleye, large mouth bass, perch and crappies lurk on the bottom. You’ll also find northern pike and channel catfish ranging from ten to fifteen pounds. If you’d rather stay on shore, there is lots of shoreline available within the city of Beaver Dam.

BEAVER DAM RIVER
Kayaking the Beaver Dam River is an adventure at every corner. Start from the urban city center and watch the landscape change to rural farmland and wooden corridors as you meet both challenging whitewater and lazy river sections. Follow the @beaverpaddlers on Facebook for weekend paddle reports and river flow rates for your safety. Organized shuttles during runs can transport you and your watercraft back to where you started.

Beaver Dam is home to 21 city parks and 300 acres of park lands and related facilities offering a large variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Leashed dogs can be walked through any city park, but need to keep moving and avoid shelters, playgrounds and athletic fields. Unleashed dog parks are located at Edgewater and Patrick Parker Conley Parks. When at the parks and around town, turn on your geocache app to locate hidden geocaches around town. Beaver Dam Community Activities and Services provides community events and recreation programs for all ages and operates the Watermark, multi-purpose community and senior center, along with facility reservations and watercraft rentals.

Dodge County is home to five parks (Astico, Derge, Harnischfeger, Nitshke Mounds and Ledge) and recreational trails that allow you to take in the beautiful, rural landscape our county has. Derge Park is a thirteen-acre park just five minutes northwest of Beaver Dam and located on the shore of Beaver Dam Lake at N8379 County Road CP. The park offers overnight camping with electricity, twenty-five campsites with 30-amp hookups and asphalt pads, picnic shelters, shower/restroom building and dump station, boat launch and canoe/kayak launch.
