Explore the natural beauty of Green Lake on one of the many public hiking trails. Maintained by the Green Team (a collaboration of the Green Lake Conservancy, the Green Lake Association, and the Green Lake Sanitary District), these hiking trails enable trail users of every level and endurance to take in the natural beauty of Wisconsin at its best. Here are some of the more popular trails:

ASSEMBLY CREEK AND SPRINGS Immediately west of Green Lake Conference Center’s Tea House or by boat from Norwegian Bay This property includes 1,100 feet of Green Lake frontage, as well as Hammer’s Trail, a walking loop of approximately 2 /3 mile length, and five bridges over several creeks and springs. These waterways merge into Assembly Creek, which flows into Norwegian Bay. Immediately west of Green Lake Conference Center’s Tea House or by boat from Norwegian Bay

MITCHELL GLEN Public access is limited to two guided tours annually. Contact Green Lake Sanitary District office to sign up for a tour: 920.295.4488; email: glsd@glakesd.com This spectacular site was formed 12,000 years ago when postglacial meltwater eroded the sandstone bedrock, resulting in a steep-sided and timbered gorge. The unique geological formations and spring-fed stream are part of a high-quality corridor that supports outstanding biodiversity. An experience like no other, it’s a tour you won’t want to miss out on! Public access is limited to two guided tours annually. NORWEGIAN BAY BOARDWALK Park off Bay Road to access trailhead or by boat on Norwegian Bay Includes the largest area of contiguous wetlands on Green Lake. The wetlands complex and an adjacent bay provide a vital spawn area for fish and habitat for a variety of wildlife, including songbirds and amphibians. SILVER CREEK (SUGAR ISLAND) WETLANDS Immediately east off County Trunk A (opposite of Sunset Park or by boat on Silver Creek) This property protects 30-plus acres of critical shoreland habitat on Silver Creek. The property includes submerged and emergent Located within the Upper Sugar River Watershed, immediately east off County Trunk A (opposite of Sunset Park) or by boat

marsh; shrub-carr; lowland forest; and Sugar Island, a wooded peninsula where the Ho-Chunk Nation made maple sugar. Only accessible by boat or over the ice in the winter. An interesting place to explore, especially by snowshoe in the winter.

SUNNYSIDE CONSERVANCY TRAILS Located along Silver Creek inlet, parking available off Lakeview Drive or access by boat via Silver Creek inlet A wide, level walking trail (about 1½ miles) with several side trails leading to several man-made channels, which includes a scenic panorama of Inlet Bay on Silver Creek. This trail contains a mixture of 30+ acres of woods, shrub-carr, and grassland. Located along Silver Creek inlet, parking available off Lakeview Drive or access by boat via Silver Creek inlet

TICHORA CONSERVANCY Access off of Oakwood Beach Road This 40-acre parcel of undeveloped land is located along Green Lake’s unspoiled south shore in Dickinson Bay. It also borders Spring Lake to create a riparian habitat for a large diversity of wildlife. An exceptionally scenic property with sandstone cliffs, shallow caves, and towering trees, Tichora features hiking, snowshoeing, and other allowable uses. Access off of Oakwood Beach Road

TULETA HILL PRAIRIE Park along Tuleta Hill Road Previously farmland, the 7½ acres is presently being restored to prairie and oak savanna. Walking paths and sitting benches are available on this ½-mile trail. Park along Tuleta Hill Road
