Strand Ephemera 2003 will showcase a total of 36 site specific artworks along Townsville’s 2 km recreational parkway. Expressions of interest were called for and artists have responded with a diversity of creativity. The exhibition is accompanied by guided tours, workshops and performance. There is an international component with the inclusion of overseas artists and the Gyuto monks, here for the Pathway to Enlightenment exhibition at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.
Many of the works are subtle and not immediately apparent. Marion Gaemers has integrated her fibre work into the aerial roots of a Banyan Fig tree. Alan Tulloch’s designs could be interpreted as markings for ball games and we hope the public will interact with them. Perc Tucker Regional Gallery presents this opportunity for you to discover contemporary practice on your doorstep, to engage and enjoy the creative endeavours of our local, national and international artists.
