A SPECIAL FRIENDS OF THE THEATRE CONCERT BY F OT T
Friends of the Theatre (FOTT) have been the Theatre's faithful volunteer organisation for the past 21 years. In addition to providing a warm welcome at the Theatre's Coffee Corner, they have been the backbone ofthe Theatre's annual Festival of One Act Plays as well as introducing and nurturing local talent by presenting their own regular FOTT variety concerts at the Pimlico Performing Arts Centre. We are proud to bring A Special Friends of the Theatre Concert to the big stage for our Morning Melodies audience to enjoy. The lovely Lyn Tarring will compare this performance while reciting bush poerty, alongside various local artists such as Die Frankfurter Oompah Band, Josh Palmer, Sophie Ricca and more. DAT E S

THE APPLETON LADIES' POTATO RACE A N E N S E M B L E T H E AT R E P R O D U C T I O N
Appleton is a small country town being forced into the present with a recent influx of wealthy city slickers, treechangers and refugees. Simmering tensions come to a head when new GP Penny Anderson discovers that the famous Appleton Potato Race awards $1000 prize money to men, and a measly $200 to women. When Penny decides to take steps to restore gender parity and coax Appleton into the 21st century, little could she have anticipated the spiralling, hilarious culture war that would follow. Inspired by real life events and featuring a cast of five fabulous women, THE APPLETON LADIES’ POTATO RACE is a funny, honest and heart-warming story about upsetting the potato cart and standing up for your principles. BY U LYS S E S – A N N R O B E R T S S C H O O L O F DA N C E
Ulysses Contemporary Dance Company is proud to bring GASP to the main stage of the Townsville Civic Theatre. GASP is the voice of Mother Earth reaching out to us, begging us to let her breathe, begging us to let her rest and regenerate. As artists, it is our duty to ask why humanity repeatedly alienates itself from nature and why we are so unable to embrace change as a collective. As choreographers/ dancers we are always searching for the key to heighten communication between stage and audience, that bolt of lightning that escapes from the performance space to blast new moments of awareness into being. To do just this, seven choreographers and thirty dancers join the stage to respond to the universe’s needs. Jane Pirani, the heart and soul of the company engages the skill of our creative community with producer singer song writer Isabelle Reynaud, lighting designer, Jamie Schmidt, scenic designer, Andre Reynaud, veteran choreographers Cassie Steen, Suzie Searight, Kylie Ball and Dane Reid and newcomers, Jarrah Scarsi and Leslie Brown. GASP celebrates Ulysses 14th birthday of productions and 16 years of operation. Ulysses is based in Townsville and is open to dancers who love to be creative and be created upon.
