You don’t know Far North Queensland if you haven’t experienced The Wet...

From the moment the green ant’s journey to higher ground begins till the final breaking of the storm, The Wet connects you to place and immerses you in the hot damp.

Following the natural arc of the wet season, the work is divided into the four distinct lessons of Country: Nature, Morality, Kinship and Lineage. Each lesson is a fundamental tool needed to

understand the story of the wet season.

The Wet has been created on Country across Far North Queensland in response to the landscape and endless yarns with the community.

Drawing on these ancient stories of the wet tropics, this dynamic acrobatic show thrills while connecting everyone to Country.

The Wet is a powerfully enduring circus, dripping with Culture.

Circa Cairns is a Circa initiative supported by the Queensland Government and the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.

Circa Cairns is based in Gimuy (Cairns) on the lands of the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people.

We acknowledge that art has been practiced here over many millennia, and that it remains a fundamental way of life for the traditional Caretakers and Custodians of the lands on which we work, create and perform today. We acknowledge that we are here as visitors, and accept the responsibility to respect and care for these lands and tread lightly.

Always was. Always will be.

Flying Fruit Fly Circus

When the orchestra hasn't shown up and the audience is waiting, call the Flying Fruit Fly Circus!

A highly distinguished musician has arrived to conduct their latest symphony, but the orchestra is nowhere to be found. Fortunately, the Fruities are ready to save the day! And create chaos with the concert grand piano…

Directed by Jake Silvestro with an original score by Ania Reynolds, Tempo features an extraordinary ensemble of young performers aged between 12 and 18 who not only possess dazzling circus skills but also play instruments!

Shifting between striking aerial acts and highly choreographed acrobatic chaos, Tempo draws heavily on the traditional knockabout humour of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus – a trademark of the company over many years. Magic, slapstick, juggling, balancing, acrobatics and aerials tumble in, out and around the concert grand piano.

With no dialogue and plenty of gasp-inducing action, Tempo appeals to every age and is suitable, or perhaps essential, for all families.

Following the success of Don Juan & Jekyll & Hyde, A Slightly Isolated Dog brings you the third instalment in the trilogy of very sexy works: THE TROJAN WAR!

This explosive and hilarious work uses a cast of faux-French performers to create a joyful, interactive celebration. Theatrical magic, wicked pop songs and fierce wit is combined to create a delightful romp through this classic twisted tale.

When Paris is born, it is prophesied that he will bring the destruction of the city. To avoid this fate, he is sent away to be sacrificed. But this starts a series of events that will inevitably lead to the destiny his parents were so desperately trying to avoid.

THE TROJAN WAR tells the story of the tragic fall of Troy. It’s a raucous celebration of our ridiculous lives: using this classic tale of gods and heroes to playfully explore questions around the current chaos of our times.

LIGHTING THE DARK

Dancenorth Australia

Lighting the Dark is a bold new work by Chris Dyke, a Kaurna (Adelaide) based dancer and emerging choreographer living with Down Syndrome.

Chris is a young man with big hopes and a compendium of larger-than-life heroes that come to his aid in dark times.

Chris is a champion for inclusivity, and whilst his internal landscape is rich with dreams, wild imagination and an unfailing love for all, especially his Mum, at times the outside world sees only the cover of the book. A book, which, if they dared to open, would tell tender tales of care and friendship, and a radically inspiring story of creative brilliance.

Featuring the breath-taking Dancenorth Ensemble alongside Chris as the lead protagonist, Lighting the Dark is the retelling of a classic tale in which love and light rise up against the darkness.

Inspired by Chris’ real life heroes Banksy, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, Lighting the Dark illuminates Chris’ profoundly moving and life affirming adventure through the world. Throughout the work, each of these icons acts as a mirror, reflecting Chris’ expansive perception and limitless sense of possibility.

Join Chris as he traverses individual and universal truths in a dance to the very centre of what it means to be human.

Proudlove is the consummate performer, delighting crowds between songs and delivering lyric driven music that is instantly relatable.

Shake & Stir Theatre Co

The year is 1999 and Shannon has a secret.

Shannon Molloy is a year 9 student at an all-boys rugby-mad Catholic school in regional Queensland, with a secret that no one can ever find out. Shannon is gay.

Based on the best-selling memoir by award-winning journalist Shannon Molloy, Fourteen is the inspirational true story of growing up gay in central Queensland, transformed into a powerful must-see theatre production by nationally acclaimed Shake & Stir Theatre Co.

Set to a nostalgic mixtape of 90s bangers from all your faves, from Shania Twain to The Spice Girls, Fourteen addresses the trials and tribulations of growing up with honesty, humour and heart. Equal parts uplifting and heartwrenching, we follow Shannon in a year

of self-discovery set amidst a backdrop of torment, bullying and betrayal – not just at the hands of his peers, but by the adults who were meant to protect him.

This moving coming-of-age memoir about adversity and tragedy is also a story of resilience, hope and hilarity –thanks to the love of a group of closeknit friends, a fiercely protective family, an extraordinary mother and… S Club 7.

So press play on your discman, lose yourself in a pumping 90s pop remix and take a technicoloured trip back to your teens. This is Fourteen.

This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

Originally co-produced with QPAC and Brisbane Festival.

Utterly captivating, heart wrenching, and witty, this adaption of Shannon Molloy’s memoir was lovingly brought to life.
