Brisbane-born Richard Dunlop’s much admired poetic interpretations of the landscape as a living, ever-changing force are exhibited together for the first time in A Northern Survey. Themes of psychological shifts associated with seasonal and climatic change are evident in ambitiouslyscaled paintings addressing aspects of life relevant to the North. The fecund vegetation, the remnants of iron ore mining, depictions of elaborately entangled rainforests in heightened colour, and evidence of tiny rural communities flying over Papua New Guinea. ͅͅ Richard DUNLOP; The Cure [detail] 2008, Mixed media on cotton
