RICHARD DUNLOP: A NORTHERN SURVEY
2018 BIENNIAL NORTH QUEENSLAND CERAMIC AWARDS
Perc Tucker Regional Gallery Monday - Friday: 10am to 5pm Saturday - Sunday: 10am to 2pm
Pinnacles Gallery Tuesday - Sunday: 10am to 5pm
FREE Brisbane-born Richard Dunlop’s much admired poetic interpretations of the landscape as a living, ever-changing force are exhibited together for the first time in A Northern Survey at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery. Themes of psychological shifts associated with seasonal and climatic change are evident in ambitiouslyscaled paintings addressing aspects of life relevant to the North - the fecund vegetation, the remnants of iron ore mining, the theatre of a shark catch, depictions of elaborately entangled rainforests in heightened colour, and evidence of tiny rural communities flying over Papua New Guinea. Richard DUNLOP, The Cure [detail], Mixed media on cotton rag, 200 x 200cm, Private Collection
FREE The biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards has long aimed to increase public exposure to a high standard of pottery from around the nation. A showcase for both well-known and emerging artists, this competition displays the diversity of ceramic art currently being produced in Australia. Installation shot from the 2016 Biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards
ON VIEW UNTIL 26 AUGUST
