Dinner Venue: The Quarry at Ross River Dam
Meeting Management have seen Townsville grow during their time of running this and other events and are continuously impressed with the Region’s customer service quality and pre and post touring opportunities. ‘Over the years Townsville has grown and matured in terms of being able to service the Convention Industry. I find the people to be friendly and cooperative and willing to help wherever and whenever they can. It is a great Convention Destination and the close proximity of Cleveland Bay, Magnetic Island and all the wonders of nature is very conducive to holding a meeting in Townsville North Queensland. With the Museum of Tropical North Queensland, Reef HQ Aquarium, The Brewery and Ross River Dam to name just a few, Townsville has a great deal to offer conference delegates,’ said Marion.
For the 2013 conference, delegates had the opportunity to experience one of Townsville’s most unique and awe-inspiring venues, The Quarry at Ross River Dam. Surrounded by the dramatic rock face and overlooking the Ross River Dam, the venue was a spectacular site for an informal dinner during the conference and left delegates with an unforgettable experience. Case Study #2 LIVEXchange 2013 October 2013 Location: Jupiters Townsville Hotel & Casino Delegates: 400 pax
400 delegates from across Australia plus international speakers from Europe and Indonesia met in Townsville in October 2013 for the LIVEXchange Conference. It was the first time the whole Australian livestock export supply chain came together since the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) was implemented, the system that assures the welfare of animals leaving Australia to overseas markets. The LIVEXchange Conference gives the industry an opportunity for producers, exporters and the wider sector to demonstrate and understand how the sector is changing and also discusses its plans for future change. As one of the largest cattle producing areas in Australia, the Townsville North Queensland Region was a logical choice for the LIVEXchange organisers due to the relevant industry alignment. With 25,000 seats into the Region weekly, the frequency of flights for delegates was a key consideration and reason for selecting the destination, as well as the availability of appropriate venues and accommodation for the event.

LIVEXchange at Jupiters Townsville Hotel & Casino
LIVEXChange 2013 opened the conference with a North Queensland style welcome drinks and BBQ, poolside on the Jupiters Townsville Hotel & Casino lawn. With inspiring views across Cleveland Bay it was a great way to break the ice, begin the networking and relax into a jam packed three day conference itinerary. The program throughout the LIVEXchange Conference included panel sessions, 20 keynote speakers and a trade exhibition. With a versatile venue like Jupiters Townsville Hotel & Casino, delegates were able to move between spaces with ease, enjoy breakout areas for meals as well as relax after conferencing and enjoy the beautiful North Queensland weather and ocean breeze at the outdoor gala dinner. Event organisers were delighted with the outcomes of the conference and were able to achieve significant media coverage across all mediums including the Australian Financial Review, The Courier Mail and National Rural Media outlets. Case Study #3 2013 Australian College of Neonatal Nurses Annual Conference and Ethical Dilemmas in Neonatal Care Symposium August 2013 Locations: Rydges Southbank Townsville, Hotel Ibis, JAM Corner, Reef HQ Aquarium and the Yacht Club Delegates: 130 pax
With the opening of Townsville Hospital’s new state of the art Neonatal Unit, Townsville North Queensland was selected to host 130 delegates at the 2013 Australian College of Neonatal Nurses Annual Conference. The new facility is the only level six tertiary referral centre for newborns in Queensland, north of Brisbane, and provided an ideal industry field trip opportunity for attending delegates to experience firsthand how the unit operates. To ease into the busy two day conference program and facilitate networking, delegates were able to experience the colours and mystery of one of Townsville greatest assets, The Great Barrier Reef, by hosting the Welcome Reception at the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium and the National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Reef HQ Aquarium. With the support of Reef HQ Aquarium staff, delegates were able to immerse themselves in the displays and learn about the ecology of the Great Barrier Reef through educational tours and small talks. The plenary sessions for the conference were hosted at Rydges Southbank Townsville, on Townsville’s popular dining and accommodation precinct, Palmer Street. To help break up the sessions and provide new meeting spaces and inspiration for the attendees, breakout sessions were hosted in the

neighbouring properties of Hotel Ibis and in the JAM Corner Function Room. The variety of meeting spaces all located within 20 metres walking distance from the main venue was a huge draw card for conference organisers when selecting Townsville as the destination. Organisers also leveraged from the Region’s great level of expertise using local speakers from within the industry. Townsville North Queensland was not only an ideal location for meeting and learning, it also offered the delegates the opportunity to have a well-deserved holiday. Pre and Post touring options were quite popular amongst the attendees with the destination offering something for everyone! Townsville gave the event organisers the opportunity to host a conference within an urban centre with delegates still able to discover experiences such as the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, tropical island, wet tropics rainforest, national park, wetland, historical, military and outback.
various venues and services available, assisted in providing quotations and contacts details, provided advertising and marketing materials to assist with delegate boosting and assisted in securing the local federal member to open the conference. Across all the venues and accommodation providers used during the 2013 Neonatal Nurses Conference, delegates were impressed with the high quality service and variety of venues and attractions Townsville North Queensland has on offer.
From conception to inception, the conference organisers worked closely with the Townsville Enterprise Convention Bureau to provide a positive experience and successful event for delegates. The Townsville Enterprise Convention Bureau initially hosted the organisers on a familiarisation tour of the Reef HQ Aquarium Function

Food 2 Food – Turn your Food Waste into Fertiliser Minimum Rental Period: Two Days Donation Options: The options for using the biofertiliser produced from your conference are unlimited – Speak to us on how your food waste can contribute to the local community by donating the biofertiliser to community gardens, local farmers or the conference venue gardens to name a few.
Every piece of food we don’t eat is energy wasted to the ecosystem and the economic process that sustains us. Food waste generates methane and other carbon related emissions irrespective of treatment processes. Reduce your ecological footprint by hiring a Bio-RegenTM mobile unit that will convert the food waste generated during your event into liquid biofertiliser. The Bio-RegenTM technology produces minimal off-gases (independently verified in Scotland) and converts all of the organic material into a soil enhancer, which means none of the final product is disposed of to landfill or elsewhere. The technology working through the Bio-RegenTM unit is manufactured by a local Townsville company and was originally designed by a local inventor. It is now used all over the world as the most effective way to convert food waste into a valuable product.
Additional Information: Presentations or keynote speeches on this innovative organic waste management process and options for donating the biofertiliser can be arranged upon request and can be tailored to your requirements and preferences.
