TIMA and Reuters team up to offer location services By George Bevir

12 February, 2015 | Reuters has partnered with facilities firm TIMA to offer location services including studio facilities and logistical support to broadcasters and online media outlets. Reuters-TIMA Location Services will offer production and editorial staff around the world, along with access to studio facilities in cities including New York, Moscow, Singapore and Tehran. Reuters global head of video products Tim Santhouse said: “Reuters-TIMA Location Services will support broadcasters and online publishers with editorial, technical and infrastructure support on location. “Our service will enable our customers to focus on what they’re good at - telling their story to their audience while the entire operational side, including technical and local knowledge, is taken care of. “This partnership brings together two sets of skills and experience that will create a powerful newsgathering service for the benefit of media companies.” The service will launch at next week’s Academy Awards ceremony. TIMA chief executive Alla Salehian added: “International news stories today have more impact beyond their borders than ever before. “Alongside this, there are an increasing number of TV channels across the world and a growing appetite for online video content. “The result is a huge demand for live international video news and analysis 24-hours a day. “Reuters-TIMA Location Services is uniquely equipped to support this trend in a way that is both affordable and of high quality.”

Reuters ties up with TIMA to boost location services

David Wood 11 February 2015 News agency Reuters has entered into a partnership with global location services provider TIMA which will see a significant expansion of TIMA's location services provision across the world. Reuters exited the location services market, which provides kit and crews to cover Premieres and breaking news events across the world, some years ago, but there has been a growing demand from the agency’s 800 broadcast customers. The new joint service will launch officially at the 87th Academy Awards where TIMA (The International Media Associates) will provide red carpet services. TIMA ceo Alla Salehian said that the tie up would significantly expand the company's reach and would see a spate of investment in outside broadcast services and post production kit adding up to around £2m. WTS Broadcast will provide the company with three new flyaway kits serving Asia, Europe and the Middle East and the USA. TIMA will open four new offices using Reuters facilities in Rio de Janeiro, New York and Beijing and will be able to tap into Reuters’ global newsgathering resources. As part of the upgrade WTS will supply 15 Sony PXW X500 shoulder mounted camcorders with SxS and RF. TIMA will also be upgrading its edit and studio facilities based in London, which uses Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid and 16TB of online and 16TB of nearline EditShare storage. WTS will be supplying Ikegami HL45 cameras as part of the deal. TIMA currently employs around 30 staff, which will be increased to 50 worldwide following the expansion.
