I
t is an exciting time to be a Civic Center Music Hall patron. Many special projects are scheduled to occur this season, including a complete renovation of Civic Center Park. These renovations will enhance everyone’s total experience and are slated for completion in 2012. Additionally, our patrons will enjoy the benefits of significantly improved downtown streetscapes and highway access, thanks to Project 180 and your approval of City bond issues. If our website’s page views are any indication, The 2011/2012 season is going to be huge! Audiences will be delighted with a show lineup that includes Cathy Rigby’s magical Peter Pan, orchestral performances with the music of Mahler and ABBA, Firebird Ballet’s spectacular wardrobe, festive Christmas chorals, and the tremendous talents of Chita Rivera. These and our countless other shows speak to the magnitude and quality of talent available to you at the Civic Center Music Hall.
As we begin this new season, Oklahoma City continues to move in a positive direction thanks to your support of MAPS and other local projects. As we experience this exciting renaissance, it is equally important that you continue to support the arts and our resident companies through ticket sales and philanthropy. After all, the arts foster culture, diversity and entertainment - all the hallmarks of a great city. Thank you for making Civic Center Music Hall one of the premiere performing arts theatres in the United States. We hope to serve you many times this season.Â

The Civic Center Foundation is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing private educational and capital support to the Civic Center Music Hall
The Civic Center Music Hall was the “crown jewel” of the first MAPS. It created a performance hall whose acoustical integrity remains unparalleled in the U.S., enabling the city to attract top level performances in every genre. It also established a unique and enduring partnership between the City and the Foundation. Oklahoma City receives national recognition year after year as a community with an enviable quality of life for its opportunities in lifestyle amenities, such as the performing arts. The Civic Center Foundation has invested $1,402,350 over the last ten years to keep the Hall at the peak of its role as our performing arts crown jewel.
A quick review of our board members speaks eloquently to the commitment of energy and talent by many of our city’s significant corporations and individuals to this cause. Their vision and passion will bring expanded opportunities to life as we move toward the Hall’s 75th Anniversary. Together with my colleagues on the board, I wish the Civic Center Music Hall, its guests and performing artists another spectacular performance year.

Cupid’s Wingman – Tony DeSare February 24-25, 2012, Fri-Sat 8:00p Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre
Tony DeSare
Smooth and delicious, an apt description of chocolate, champagne, AND Tony DeSare. DeSare has a sound that is romantic, swinging, and sensual whether he’s performing classic standards or original material. After starring in “Our Sinatra” off-Broadway, DeSare has been called a Sinatra acolyte and belongs to a group of neo-traditional upstarts from Harry Connick, Jr. to Michael Buble.

Quilters
September 16 - October 2, 2011, Freede Little Theatre Originally developed and produced at the Denver Center Theatre company, this joyous and moving celebration of American womanhood became a record-setting regional theater success before its presentations on Broadway and at the Edinburgh Festival. Combining music, dance movement and scenes of vivid dramatic intensity, the play pays eloquent tribute to the courage and spirit of our nation’s pioneer woman. “Who would have thought that quilts, quilting—quilters—had so much joy and pain, laughter and tears, so much life, beauty and drama in them?” —Drama-Logue. “
Directed by Doug Van Liew
Buried Child
October 21 - November 6, 2011, CitySpace Theatre Winner of the 1979 Pulitzer Prize. Revised for the 1996 Broadway production. This powerful and brilliant play probes deep into the disintegration of the American Dream. “Shepard is one of the most prolific of our playwrights, and, for that matter, certainly one of the most brilliant.” -NY Post. “Mr. Shepard is an uncommon playwright and uncommonly gifted...” -NY Times. “...wildly poetic, full of stage images and utterances replete with insidious suggestiveness...” -NY Magazine.

Same Time, Next Year February 3-19, 2012, CitySpace Theatre
Bring your Valentine and laugh at one of the most popular romantic comedies of the century! Same Time, Next Year ran four years on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for lead actress Ellen Burstyn, who later recreated her role in the successful motion picture. It remains one of the world’s most widely produced plays. The plot follows a love affair between two people, Doris and George, married to others, who rendezvous once a year. Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers. In a special arrangement, one of OKC Improv’s most popular groups “The Ones Your Mother Warned You About” will be performing at 7:30 to open each of our Saturday performances. That’s two great performances for the price of one! (Saturday performances only) “The Ones Your Mother Warned You About” is an original twoman, two-woman long form improv troupe that specializes in creating rich, smart, jazzy scenes that explore the complexities of life, love, and relationships.

Gypsy
March 8-25, 2012, Freede Little Theatre Suggested by memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, GYPSY is the ultimate story about an aggressive stage mother. Join Rose, June and Louise in their trip across the United States during the 1920’s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born. Jule Styne’s music and Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics include Let Me Entertain You, Some People, You’ll Never Get Away from Me, If Momma Was Married, All I Need Is the Girl, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, You Gotta Get A Gimmick and Together Wherever We Go. This is a gripping story of one of the most frightening aspects of show business.
