Editorial
Tracy Ellis of highs and lows 2020 has been for all of us. When we began the year, who would have imagined we would be facing a global pandemic with the impact felt around the globe. There was so much uncertainty in all areas of our life and especially in the job market and in the real estate market. That was the first time in my real estate career that my phone rarely rang for a period of three weeks. Since that time, it has not stopped ringing and I am incredibly grateful. The current real estate market reflects the reality that, after months of quarantine, many who have not been economically impacted by COVID-19, are realizing that there may never be a better time to sell their home than now. With home values at their peak and incredibly low interest rates, it is a winning combination. During the quarantine, many have been reminded about what they do not like about their home. We have seen more clients than ever who have been on the fence about selling their home, deciding that now is the right time to make their move. This pandemic has also made people realize they want to be closer to family. We have had many clients relocating to do just that, as well as clients who have decided they want to simply travel in their new RV’s and enjoy life a little more now that they are able to work remotely. Therefore, some have made the decision to downsize to a smaller home and travel. After months of working virtually, more and more buyers are realizing they are not as restricted on where they live and some are looking for more space and privacy in the suburbs and rural areas. Since more Americans are now working from home, the need for a larger home to accommodate a quiet space to work has grown as well. In many states, buyers had moved to the city to be able to enjoy walking to restaurants, shops, and the nightlife without having to drive anywhere. Unfortunately, with COVID, in a lot of cities all over America, those businesses are no longer open. If the businesses are still open, some people in those areas are simply staying home. This has made some change their views on living in the city, especially since so many people are also working from home. Many buyers are looking for larger homes, on larger lots to help accommodate the virtual learning for their kids and to have a quiet work environment for themselves. We have also seen more interest in families buying land in more rural areas to have more space or for families to have a place to build homes near each other for support purposes.

EVERY HOME HAS A STORY, LET US TELL YOURS
As many more Americans work, study, and exercise at home, they are expecting much more from their homes. Most buyers are looking for a multi-purpose sanctuary. I have seen many clients being very purposeful in their decisions on their next home than ever before. More clients are wanting more space to exercise, instead of a corner in a bedroom. They are looking for light-filled rooms or finished walk out lower levels that can help them feel like they are continuing with some what of their normal routine of a gym. Of course, the majority of home buyers, want a dedicated home office, if not two, with good lighting and a great backdrop for their many Zoom or Virbella calls. The outcome of the pandemic in housing, has been all about making our homes serve as all things since many of us have been spending a lot of our time now at home. Although our homes functionality has become especially important during COVID, we have also seen many more spending a lot of time outdoors. So many have spent a lot of time and money on outdoor expansion more this year than ever. Homeowners want those spaces to be welcoming, with pools, cabanas, and outdoor living rooms with features like a fireplace, a television, a bathroom, and a kitchen with a pizza oven. Homeowners are also looking for quiet nooks so they can escape without ever leaving their home. Barn houses, sheds, garages, and carriage houses are being converted to artist studios, home offices, or classroom space for the children. Rick and I did the same as well with the addition of an outdoor kitchen pavilion that we just had completed, I will share the photos here with you. We are so grateful to have this space, with many not feeling comfortable to gather indoors still. We have had more outdoor dinners this year than at any time in our 34 years together. All of this brings me back to something I talk about in almost every edition of our magazine and often on our radio shows, our home truly is
our sanctuary. Our home is where we find peace, comfort, love, and joy. It is where the best memories in our life are made with our families. This year, more than ever, has reminded me of the importance of our job in representing not only our client’s best interest but listening to their wants and needs and treating them like a part of our family. We never take for granted the fact this is the largest investment most of us will make in our lifetime and are so grateful to all of our clients that have let us represent you for over twenty years now. As I write this, we are only weeks away from a Presidential election. What a year it has been, a pandemic and now an election. I know this is a heated topic for many for obvious reasons, so I will not go into a lot of detail here except to say, I think more than ever we all need to be a little more kind to one another. It disturbs me to see something as serious as a Pandemic being turned into something political. I am looking forward to
the election being over so that we can all enjoy the holidays in our homes with our families. Later in this issue you will find a story about why the holidays are so important to Rick and I and we will take you inside our home for the holidays. This is the first time we have shared our home, decorated for Christmas, in the magazine, but with everything going on this year, we wanted to spread as much joy and happiness as we could. The holidays are such a wonderful time of year and we hope all of you spend it with family making wonderful memories. We thank you for allowing us into your homes and look forward to many more years of serving our community. If you know of anyone thinking of buying, selling, building, or investing in real estate, we would greatly appreciate if you would tell them to give us a call. Remember, Every Home Has A Story and We Would Love to Tell Yours.

uilt in 1867 for John and Mary Fulton, the grand and historic house at 300 N. Gore Avenue in Webster Groves, Missouri stands as the first “century home” in its area. As a lawyer, writer, and interpreter for the Mexican Consul, John Fulton hoped to build a private retreat in the midst of one of the coziest, friendliest neighborhoods near St. Louis, combining the luxury of privacy with the advantages of a tight-knit community. Many people have lived in this lavishly styled home over the last 153 years, including Clarissa Start, a columnist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and author. She lived in the home
from 1955 to 1970, getting to know the story of the home and of the growing Webster Groves area. Clarissa received the plaque marking the property as the very first “century home” in Webster Groves on June 13, 1967. In 1977, Clarissa wrote a historically based book titled Webster Groves. The book is still available for purchase today, and details not only the history of Webster Groves but also features the home at 300 N. Gore Avenue. After Clarissa Start, many people have taken care of this unique property over the years, each working hard to maintain its historic integrity and to keep the original, visual style of the home intact in

spite of the advancement of the world around it. Now, as we near the end of 2020, this unique and expansive home is ready for the next buyer to find solace and warmth within its walls. Shrouded from the public eye by a thick line of oak and walnut trees, the triple-brick, two-story home sits in the center of 1.3 acres of land at one of the highest peaks in the neighborhood, surrounded by spectacular views. At the end of a scenic driveway, the home draws the eyes of onlookers with a large front porch that spans the entire front. A matching balcony, newly renovated with fresh wood and paint, runs the length of the second story above, waiting for someone to walk across it and enjoy the fresh air. Climb the wide porch staircase and enter through the French doors to a grand, open entryway decorated with an original, ornate chandelier. Matching French doors can be seen down the long hallway, leading outside. An immense dining room waits on your right, adorned with another original chandelier and providing plenty of space to host the entire family for dinner. The kitchen in the back of the home—once the original dining room—is newly refurbished with all new appliances and features, including an oversized, marble island counter, a six-burner stainless steel oven and stove, and a large chandelier that calls to the original

style of the home. Open doorways lead into a 36-foot-long living room, complete with two matching wood burning fireplaces, as well as two matching crystal chandeliers. This room was made for the host who loves to entertain guests! To make the house more suitable for modern living, a laundry room, large pantry, and half bathroom were installed in the back of the house. This expansion leads into yet another massive family room, complete with a newly renovated office space built from an indoor greenhouse, as well as French doors that lead to an aggregate patio in the backyard. A wide, sweeping staircase in the entryway leads to the second floor, where you will find a master bedroom suite, complete with French doors, a large walk-in closet, a crystal chandelier, and a private fireplace. The master bath offers a private oasis within the home with its triple head marble and tile shower. Across the hall are two more large bedrooms, each with brick fireplaces, joined by a jack-and-jill bathroom. A fourth bedroom-sized space awaits your creativity with the potential to be anything from a guest bedroom to a private dressing room. The stairs were expanded in order to reach an attic that awaits your finishing touches and includes a Widow’s Walk up to the flat portion of the roof of the home, where you can sit and take in the panoramic view of Webster Groves. Other updates, approved by Webster Groves, were added over the years to make it more suitable for modern living while still upholding the historical integrity of the home. The walls of the home have been redone to hold in the heat and air conditioner better throughout the seasons. New windows that match the originals were placed in recent years with stronger, thicker glass. Closets were added in the bedrooms for plenty of storage, and the attic door was replaced to provide easier access. Fresh paint and woodwork were completed throughout the home for structural soundness and visual appeal. In spite of these renovations, however, the house still holds much of its original history. Four of the seven fireplaces still host their original marble mantels. The gleaming hardwood floors, although refinished, are also original and remain in incredible condition even after over 100 years. This scenic retreat is unique in its character and in its history, awaiting someone who will fall in love with its story and help maintain its integrity for years to come. Webster Groves, MISSOURI
N
amed as one of the safest cities in Missouri, Webster Groves is a cozy town that combines the convenience of suburban living with the scenic tranquility of the country. The area, located just fifteen minutes from downtown St. Louis, began as a 6,002 acre land grant gifted to the French by the Spanish government. Thanks to its location on the Pacific Railroad line, people were able to access the land easily. As the city of St. Louis became crowded and overpopulated, residents moved outward into the area seeking peace and quiet, as well as a safer environment. Originally, five small municipalities were placed along the railroad lines: Webster, Old Orchard, Webster Park, Tuxedo Park, and Selma. In 1892, the townships unified their governments to become one historic town, Webster Groves. Developers
10 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
advertised it to the public as the “Queen of the Suburbs”, where the housing was magnificent, the atmosphere was tranquil, and, thanks to the proximity of the City of St. Louis, the jobs were plentiful. Today, the community is all-encompassing and tight-knit, creating a haven within the city where everyone says “hello” and anyone is welcome, regardless of economic or geographical origin. The aloofness and standoffish behaviors of the world around us are not often found in Webster Groves; there is always someone willing to strike up a conversation or offer a helping hand. It won’t be long until you feel the warmth and openness of the area around you. Culture is just as important to the residents of Webster Groves as their warm and welcoming disposition. Residents take pride in the city’s history, and the care afforded to the architecturally diverse buildings and homes throughout the area is nothing
short of spectacular. Buildings are updated according to codes and protocols established by the Webster Groves City government in order to preserve the historical character and integrity of the city, something residents take great pride in maintaining. Webster Groves is best known and loved for its visual appeal, diverse culture, and historic integrity. A lush line of oak and walnut trees line the streets, providing shade and fresh air for patrons out and about for a day of work or play. The city embraces nature as part of its country-like appeal, providing over 120 acres of public parks where patrons can explore, picnic, and spend time with family and friends. Down the streets, you can find dozens of local shops and boutiques, each loaded with wares ranging from home dĂŠcor and fashion to technology and medicine. A myriad of local restaurants peppers the spaces in between, offering a variety of cuisine options from pan-Asian and Mexican to all-out American dining. Many restaurants also host outdoor patio seating, adding to the sense of community and sociability. Everything you might need is either a walk or a short drive away! Throughout the year, a wide variety of events and activities are available, providing a source of entertainment and culture to residents and visitors alike. Examples of these events include the Webster Art Fair, hosted nearly every June, during which over 100 artists from around the country display their work to the public in a gallery walk. The Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival takes place in September for an evening of food and easy listening. Another popular event is the Autumn Concert Series, where every Thursday evening in October is occupied by a different band or music artist. Webster Groves is a host to many theater performances near Webster University, providing plays and shows of every genre from Shakespeare to modern drama. Webster Groves is also home to a series of secret gardens available for view on a tour in the month of May, as well as a sculpture garden that can be visited anytime of the year. If you are interested in the history of the area, Webster Groves also offers a variety of history walks ranging from two to three miles long in different parts of the city, highlighting significant homes, churches, orchards, businesses, and architectural wonders. It is often said that Webster Groves brings out the best in people, emboldening them to share their knowledge, their culture, and their compassion for others. It sustains both the historical culture of the past and the compassion and integrity of the future, encouraging the respect and care of not only architecture and stories, but also the creation of art, human relationships, and the preservation of nature. MILITARY MOVES:
JOANIE JACQUES I
t’s no secret that one of the greatest economy boosters and largest employment centers in southwest Illinois is Scott Airforce Base. Located in the “metro East” portion of St. Louis in St. Clair County, Scott Airforce Base hosts a workforce of over 15,000 people, including civilians, contractors, members of the Air Force National Guard and the Reserves, and active-duty members of the United States military. Every year, several of the 420,000 to 450,000 military families, about 30% of the total military workforce, are relocated, and often times, many of them are transferred to places such as Belleville, O’Fallon, or Mascoutah in Illinois to work as part of the Scott Airforce Base. More often than not, these families will relocate every two to three years, with 17.1% of military members transferring from out of state and 67% of members relocating with children. For active-duty personnel, this can be an involved and often stressful change as they consider safe neighborhoods, school districts, and cost of living. The Rick and Tracy Ellis team is more than equipped to handle the concerns of military members with agents like Joanie
26 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
Jacques. Joanie has been in the real estate business for just under three years and is a fully licensed realtor in both Missouri and Illinois. As the sister of a Navy veteran, Joanie understands many of the struggles faced by active-duty personnel looking to relocate into the area. She works on a flexible schedule that allows for easy and consistent communication and prides herself on her ability to be present when her clients cannot. Joanie takes care to go the extra mile. To start, she makes sure to thoroughly research any properties her clients send her way. After touring the property and looking at the surrounding area, Joanie provides transparent, honest reviews to her clients, sparing no detail of any highlights she finds or any concerns she may have. Joanie also provides a myriad of ways for her clients to view the properties, including Facetime, Zoom calls, short pre-recorded videos, and photos. Once a property has been chosen, Joanie makes sure to be present for every inspection and update, including carpet and paint jobs, to ensure the house is movein ready.
This attention to detail is especially important for firsttime home buyers like the Leigh family. Adam Leigh is an active member of the United States military living with his wife Manuela Leigh and their two children in Colorado. Recently, the Leigh family was told to relocate to Illinois, where Adam will be stationed in order to work at Scott Airforce Base. With Adam under active duty and Manuela working several hours a day in oral surgery, there wasn’t a lot of time during the day to shop for proper houses suitable for their family, and there was no way they could travel to shop for homes in person. By being accessible at nearly any time, Joanie was able to find the Leigh family a home quickly and efficiently, sight unseen. She provided them with the Etta Homes app and connected with them virtually, allowing them to send her listings they were interested in with the touch of a button. This gave Joanie access to their ideas and preferences, and she rapidly investigated the properties for the Leigh family. When it came to purchasing property without seeing it in person, the Leighs admitted initially that they were not fans of the process. “Joanie made it easier,” Adam said. “She was honest, and she was always available when we had questions, even at night. We gave her the basics, and she ran with it.” Through apps such as Facetime, virtual tours, and in-person photos, Joanie was able to find a great home for the Leigh family relatively quickly. The Leighs are scheduled to move to their new home in October of 2020. When asked about her work with clients in the military, Joanie says her topnotch service is the least she can do for those that protect and serve our country. The military, she says, is an integral part of the community in the United States, and for their work both in and out of our country, members deserve the best service she can provide. “The most rewarding aspect for me,” Joanie said, “is earning their trust and their confidence. I get to be their advocate when they can’t be here to do things themselves. I try to always work as if they are there with me. I treat all of my clients like my family.” If you are in the military and are in need of relocation into Missouri or Illinois, Joanie Jacques would be honored to assist you! Trinity Underground, llc
P
erhaps the largest driving force behind business success and land ownership is the traditional American Dream, the idea that with hard work and dedication, any American citizen can achieve their highest aspirations. There are many areas throughout Missouri that reflect these images of diligence and success, but none are as opportune and unique as the Trinity Underground mine system. Nestled in the quaint town Elsberry, Missouri in the heart of Lincoln County, there is over forty expansive acres of available land that host the location of three vacant, magnificent limestone mines. The mines are surrounded by 350 acres of land and two magnificent homes, the land and their mines were originally purchased and developed by Fielding Wigginton on October 30, 1857. An intelligent and driven man, Wigginton decided to allow for the mining of Kimmswick limestone on the property by the Crystal Carbonate Lime Company in 1904 and by the Columbia Mining Company in 1924. Over the course of fifty years,
30 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
Wigginton expanded his reach on the surrounding land, building a small log home nearby in which he would build his life while working toward something he could be proud of and pass down to his children. Wigginton’s dream was seen to fruition and carried on with the birth of his granddaughter Ida Wigginton in 1885. She was born in the very log house he’d built and spent her childhood on the property, getting to know the land and the mines well as she played and grew. In 1906, Ida married Missouri Senator Clarence Cannon and inherited her grandfather’s property, including the limestone mines. The mining of limestone continued on the property while Clarence Cannon was active in Washington D.C. In spite of the constant explosions and exploitation of the land, Ida and Clarence spent any available time building up the house for their growing family, turning the log home where Ida was born into a kitchen and adding the infamous Concrete Office, where Senator Cannon could store his documents to protect them from fires. The Concrete Office
remains today, still as fireproofed as ever, so secure it once stopped a fire that ignited inside from burning down the rest of the house! All the while, mining companies blasted away at rock and stone, searching for an ever-present, overflowing fount of limestone. Ida moved back into her childhood home permanently in 1963, just before the death of her beloved husband in 1964. By this time, Independence Mining had taken over the search for Kimmswick limestone, and the blasts from the neighboring mines shook the house daily, knocking precious items over, shifting dust around, and turning pictures askew. It wasn’t long before Ida demanded the end of limestone mining on her property for good.
TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE 31
Although the mines lay vacant, Ida Cannon enjoyed her life on the property in her renovated house for twelve years. In 1972, she agreed to sell the land and all of its bounty, including the mines, to the Hoechst family, but asked that she be allowed to stay in the house until she passed. In 1975, after Ida had been laid to rest, the Hoechst family took possession, ready to carry the torch for the Wigginton family with ideas and plans for the property. Mr. Emil E. Hoechst was a hardworking plumber who, like many of us, was seeking to create a better life for his family. Once he established his own plumbing business and saw success there, he decided to follow his dream of owning land for investment and development. Over the course of many years, he purchased a great deal of property, including over 1,000 acres of land in Earth City, buildings in the downtown St. Louis area, land in Pike County, and the Wigginton-Cannon property in Elsberry. Mr. Hoechst was looking to update the Wigginton-Cannon home and stewed on development ideas for the empty mines, but he passed in 1982 before his visions could be brought to life. His son, Mr. Emil A. Hoechst took over the property in 2005, continuing work on the home and development on the mines. Although his primary business was in banking, Emil was also versed in farming,
32 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
industry, and real estate, having followed in his father’s footsteps to chase his own American Dream. Now, as we near the end of 2020, the original forty plus acres and their treasured limestone mines are ready for further development, waiting for a history buff, a business investor, or anyone looking to keep the American Dream alive. Three massive mines sit open and ready for use, providing different-sized spaces for nearly any business venture. The largest of the mines spans an incredible 417,000 square feet, hosting two levels with high ceilings, and railroad access. The second mine opens to a 21,000 square foot space and provides three entrances as well as two levels. Even the smallest of the mines offers 3,000 square feet of space. All of the mines are large enough for visitors to drive through, as they have for the last several years. The mines are pristine, dry, and solid, having never f looded or produced any shifting rock in all of their 116 years. In addition, they provide a natural cooling system that, in the deepest parts, could keep food fresh for up to a month! The cool air can be used as a natural air conditioner for buildings built off of the rock in front of the mine system. Endless opportunities are available for these historic landmarks. Many suggestions for uses have been made over the years, including data centers for high security work, a series of offices, warehouses, a recreation center that includes gun ranges and sporting zones, a waterpark, a motorbike park, a winery or brewery, and a greenhouse for crops. If closed off, the mines could even be turned into a sterile environment for scientific research purposes, isolated and distant from the wilderness outside. Further opportunities await the buyer who loves to negotiate. Although the USDA currently owns the neighboring property, a portion of their land could be bought and developed into a road that leads down to the mine entrances, creating easy public access. Another opportunity that awaits on this scenic property is a lake that sits in front of the largest mine. This spring-fed lake is overflowing with fish and at least eleven feet deep. The large lake has the potential to draw locals and even tourists for swimming, canoeing, and fishing every summer. The mines below provide the perfect place to build cabins with trails leading to the lake for a scenic summer get-away in one of the fastest growing, yet still isolated, areas in Missouri: Elsberry. As a home to just over 2,000 people, the area is filled with local shops and businesses, parks, and restaurants. With its small-town values and closeknit community, Elsberry holds plenty of history, culture, and heritage to draw in anyone from anywhere in the country for a visit. In addition to the possibility of the small miles becoming cabins, one of the mines could easily be transformed into a museum dedicated to the history of the property, the importance of limestone in Missouri, and local wildlife. For 163 years now, several families have enjoyed this beautiful property known as the Trinity Underground. One of the things Rick and Tracy enjoy most in the real estate business is telling the stories of historic and unique properties like this one. Even after twenty years, they still believe every home as a story to tell. Let Rick and Tracy tell the story of your home! Contact them today at 636-699-2197 or 636-229-3702.

s urban and city life becomes more cluttered and demanding, many homebuyers are looking to move outward into the more rural areas of Missouri, seeking somewhere they can both live and work while still feeling the surrounding peace of nature and privacy. What better place to seek refuge than in the rising-star location of Lincoln County? A prime location for work and play, but rare enough to still turn heads, 1995 Highway B sits in the quaint little town of Elsberry, home to just over 2,000 people. The area is filled with small businesses and local shops with plenty of store front parking. There is always somewhere to spend your time, including local parks, a library, and numerous local restaurants. With its small-town values and close-knit community, Elsberry holds plenty of history, culture, and heritage, as well as sprawling acres of land that provide space and privacy to its residents. This beautiful property is located four miles down Highway B across from Mayes Lane. Around 160 acres of land spans out all around you as you come to the end of the scenic driveway. The historic one-and-a-half story, craftsman style home is surrounded by a thick line of lush trees that provide a dazzling display of color throughout the seasons, especially in the fall. You can sit on the front porch and enjoy the remarkable view and a constant gentle breeze provided by the home’s location at the highest

peak in the area. This home is perfect for a growing family, or even for someone waiting for the grandchildren to come and visit for the weekend. Though no one is entirely sure of an exact date, locals claim that the farmhouse was built sometime around 1936, although it may have been around as early as 1920. It was considered to be one of the best houses built in its time, and to this day it still holds many original features, including gorgeous hardwood floors, firewalls, a classic phone booth, the main level windows, and prized woodwork. Updates were added over the years to make the house more suitable for modern living, including a bathroom and new windows in the upper level. The interior has also been freshly painted, newer siding and insulation installed along with newer air conditioning and a brand-new furnace installed just this year. The main level is vast and open with wide ached entryways leading from room to room. The spacious living room has a cozy fireplace for those cool winter nights and is open to the sizable dining room that is perfect for hosting the entire family. Stunning chandeliers hang from the ceilings in the front rooms, casting a lovely, warm glow. There is a main level master suite with a full bathroom. Climb the stairs to the upper level, and you’ll find two bedrooms and a full bathroom, as well as a loft, perfect for teenagers, children, and adults alike. Nearly every closet in the house is well-lit and can be stepped into,
providing plenty of room for storage. On rainy days, the house can be a safe space for entertainment and fun. An unfinished basement awaits your finishing touches, ready to store anything you might need.
Venture out onto the property, and you’ll find several original structures, including a two-story horse barn complete with three stalls, a feeding hall, and corn cribs, perfect for any equestrian. There is also a functional hay barn near a wet-weather spring, two water wells, and a concrete machine shed equipped with a heater, perfect for anyone who has tools to store and needs a place to work in peace. Further back, a spring-fed creek runs into a beautiful, sprawling pond just waiting for a fisherman to throw in a line, or even for a family looking to take a dip on a hot summer’s day. At least thirty acres of the remaining land are perfect for the green-thumb farmer looking to grow crops of any kind. Plenty of land remains for roaming chickens and grazing cattle, as well as the opportunity for development! The property spans enough acreage to build up to three other homes nearby, and with two highways running along the property line, extra entrances could even be built to accommodate everyone who falls in love with the scenic views and the desire to chase the American Dream of owning land. It isn’t often that a home offers a scenic getaway with so much opportunity, but after nearly fifty years, this exceptional home is ready to welcome someone new within its walls. Come tour this beautiful property and explore the quaint town of Elsberry! Contact Rick or Tracy Ellis today for a private showing at 636-699-2197 or 636-229-3702.

ORGANIZ ATION IS KEY:
SHERI WOLFE
A
s we near the end of 2020, the holidays are fast approaching. Whether you are planning to stay in your home for the remainder of the year or if you’re planning to sell, one thing is for sure: the holidays bring about an excessive influx of stuff. Gifts, sale items, bigger furniture, and winter clothes are sure to clutter nearly everyone’s living spaces well into 2021. However, if you’re looking to sell, you may want to step back and consider the amount of clutter lying around your home. Recently, Sheri Wolfe, an agent on the Rick and Tracy Ellis team, has discovered that one of the primary keys to selling your home may be your organization tactics. Inspired by the hit Netflix series Get Organizing: The Home Edit, a show where professional organizers Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin teach everyone from celebrities to everyday people how to effectively organize their homes and make the most of their living spaces, organization has become Sheri’s go-to approach to getting houses ready to sell. Unlike the show, however, Sheri’s methods don’t require spending a bunch of money on plastic totes, boxes, and bins. In fact, Sheri’s organization methods can be achieved for pennies on the dollar, if you even need to spend money at all. Before presenting her ideas to the team, Sheri began testing them out in her own home, cleaning out and organizing her master bedroom closet
36 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
and her kitchen, often the two most important rooms in a house being listed for sale. The idea was to maximize the master bedroom closet and to make every space of it functional, as well as to create an organized system in the kitchen that would allow Sheri and her nineteen-year-old daughter to bake at an efficient, productive rate. “Rachel and I bake between 3000 and 4000 holiday cookies every year for my clients as a personal touch,” Sheri said, “and that takes a lot of time. Organizing the kitchen by sorting ingredients by type, for example, should make the process easier, faster, and more enjoyable for us. I have a small closet pantry, so making it functional is necessary for it to be effective.” With success on the horizon, Sheri decided to pursue the idea of providing her clients with organization tips and advice. Much like Sheri’s cookies add a personal touch to her service, organizing your space will add that personal touch that makes your house a home. First impressions matter, especially in the master bedroom and the kitchen. Organization opens up the room and utilizes the most of the space you have. This is especially important if you live in a smaller home, as empty space is wasted space. Organizing your home only takes a couple of hours, and as Sheri has discovered, it can be done with little-to-no spending. “This can be as simple as arranging your clothes in a rainbow color order,” Sheri says. “Even the way you fold your t-shirts can make
Sheri Wolfe 314.609.7792
a world of difference.” Sheri also suggests stacking objects such as boxes from largest to smallest, cleaning out the pantry and cabinets of old food and Tupperware, or even sorting your children’s toys into two smaller bins rather than one cluttered toy box. The goal is to create a more welcoming, open space that allows potential buyers to see themselves living in your home, an ability that speaks volumes to clients when they consider whether or not to purchase. Too much clutter takes away the ability to visualize, and often times buyers will change their minds about a property simply based on the fact the space appeared too cluttered or cramped. If you’re getting ready to list your home and are seeking an agent who has the knowledge to help you clean up and clean out, give Sheri Wolfe a call at 314-609-7792.

With the Rise in Divorce Rates During COVID-19, The Ellis’ felt it was important to obtain the RCS-D designation to better serve their clients.
U
nfortunately, one of the many changes we have seen during the Coronavirus Pandemic is a spike in divorce rates in the U.S. as so many couples have completely had their home/work environment completely changed. There are several different averages depending on which data or poll you follow, but on average the number of people looking for divorces was up over 25 percent from March through June compared to the year prior. It is obviously understandable with the huge changes that have occurred in are day to day living in 2020. So many have had to adjust to working from home on top of homeschooling their children as well. The added stress from that alone not to mention some have also been unemployed during this time or have even lost their businesses altogether which has caused financial strain for many. Even worse, some may have lost loved ones to COVID-19 or had the illness themselves. Therefore, we have also seen an increase in depression for many during this time. We are social beings and the lock downs in many of our areas have forced us to be at home more and not socialize with others. Typically, when married couples are going through a rough patch, they can have some time apart or time with friends to talk through their feeling’s. Unfortunately, through this pandemic it has affected each one of our life’s in some way and some decide not to reach out to others with their burdens when they to have their own. This along with all the other factors has put significant strain on many relationships. Surprisingly, data collected by Legal Templates found that newlyweds took the hardest hit. In fact, 20 percent of couples who sought divorce were married within the past five months or less, compared to the just 11 percent in 2019 – doubling the rate. With numbers like that it would seem to reflect that recently married couples were less equipped to handle the added stress of COVID-19 in comparison to a more established marriage. Obviously, we have helped many divorce couples navigate through buying and selling real estate over the last 20 plus years, but we wanted to do even more during this difficult time. I just finished a course to receive my RCS-D designation, Real Estate Collaboration Specialist-Divorce. The RCS-D designation is going to help us give our clients even more value and help them make an informed decision
during an exceedingly difficult time in their life. After obtaining my RCS-D designation I started connecting with great Family Law attorneys as well. Rick and I wanted to invite them on our weekly radio shows to hopefully help answer people’s questions that may be thinking about a divorce as well. We recently sat down with family law attorney Sylvia Pociask. Sylvia has been an attorney for 10 years and is with Moss Pociask, LLC in St. Louis. If you listen to our radio shows or pick up my magazine you know how important it is to Rick and I to sit down with other business owners and make sure their priorities are inline with ours, always having the best interest of the client. In doing so, I always like to find out what led them to their career path because I think it explains a lot about who they are as a person and the compassion they will show to anyone we send their way. For Sylvia it was personal since as a child she grew up in a divorce household herself. Sylvia knew the things she wished would have been different or the things that worked best for their family and felt she could help other families going through a difficult situation as well. Family Law is so much more then just divorce. One of the things Sylvia enjoys as well is helping Dads who want more time with their kids or even grand parents who for what ever reason may not be able to see their grandchildren. When talking with her I could feel how much she cares about every client and it was not just a paycheck or a case. If you are looking for a caring family law attorney, please reach out to Sylvia Pociask. If you are looking for a real estate agent to help you navigate the home sale process or purchase while going through a divorce, please reach out to me. After taking this course and receiving the RCS-D designation, it will help me not only be your real estate agent, but also a project manager to assist you the homeowners, lawyers, and mediators throughout the process.

New Monthly Charity Raffle STL 50/50 Launches in St. Louis December 1 Donate Digitally for a Chance to Win While Helping Area Nonprofits
ST. LOUIS, MO / December 1, 2020 – The Coronavirus pandemic has made fundraising difficult for many area organizations. Givable, a St. Louis-based nonprofit focused on creating ways for people to give locally and sustainably has announced a safe and easy way for charities to raise money with the launch of STL 50/50. STL 50/50 is a regional raffle that will be held every month with each raffle benefiting a different St. Louis area charity. The first raffle will launch December 1 benefiting Youth In Need, a nonprofit child and family services agency that is dedicated to building positive futures for the community’s most vulnerable children, teens, and families. Raffle tickets will only be sold digitally and must be purchased through the STL5050.com website. As with other 50/50 or split-the-pot raffles, STL 50/50 will award the winner of the raffle 50% of the gross sales minus any taxes that may need to be withheld according to law, and the remainder will be given to the chosen charity of the month. This region-wide fundraising effort is the first of its kind and will help inject tens of thousands of dollars into our nonprofit ecosystem to help solve some of our region’s most pressing issues. “With traditional fundraising events and in-person opportunities no longer feasible due to Covid-19, we wanted to create a simple way for nonprofits to raise much needed funds during this time of uncertainty, while also providing an incentive to the donor,” said Jared Opsal, Givable Executive Director. Givable’s philosophy is to empower individuals, families, and businesses to make a difference in their community by making philanthropy more accessible. “We hear all the time that givers feel more connected to their community, and we’ve provided a way for more people to chip in a little to make a big difference.” Michael Staenberg, who founded Givable alongside Brian Matthews with Cultivation Capital and Kathy Osborn with the Regional Business Council, believes this has the potential to raise tens of thousands for local charities. “We have seen well promoted 50/50 style raffles raise a lot of money in other parts of the country and in Canada, which is why making this raffle a regular event in St. Louis will provide an enormous boost to the bottom lines of charities like Youth in Need.” A new charity will be announced at the start of each month that has been vetted using Givable’s guidelines and approved by its board of directors. Prize amount and winning ticket will be announced on the stl5050.com website. Official rules and regulations can be found at www.stl5050.com.
About Youth in Need Youth In Need, a proud member of the United Way, is an eastern Missouri regional agency serving more than 11,000 children, teens and families each year with residential group homes, homeless street outreach, education, counseling and support groups, foster care case management and infant, child and family development programs. Cedar Lake
Cellars Winery W
hen the calendar turns to fall and the leaves turn color, our thoughts naturally turn to the grape harvest and a winery visit. Fall has many wonderful tastes associated with the season - Carmel apples, candy corn, and of course pumpkin spice, but what we want to talk about is everyone’s favorite - wine! This fall, Cedar Lake Cellars winery in Warren County is celebrating its 10th anniversary with 10 weeks of special events. “A decade in the hospitality industry has really flown by fast, starting with the event venue, expanding to the winery, and everything we’ve done so far,” said Cedar Lake Cellars proprietor Carl Bolm. “This fall we’re having a 10-week celebration that will go to mid-November, and every weekend we are just blowing it out! We have signature events, great bands, live music, bonfires, fire pits, plenty of seating, lots of space, and of course great food and drink, more than 400 acres, five lakes, and (of course), three swans!” The story that started almost two decades ago with an impromptu helicopter landing in a farmer’s back yard has turned into one of the premier event venues and wineries in the region. In 2001, Carl was working on finishing up the required hours to get his helicopter pilot’s license, when something caught his eye. “I was flying over the area where I grew up, and I saw this beautiful farm,” said the Warren County native. “I was interested and flew around for a bit, and then looked over at my trainer and we decided to land in the field. It was laid out beautifully - it was off a dead-end county road, and it was pristine and isolated. As soon as I saw it, I was already picturing where a few lakes could go, and I thought it was a diamond in the rough.”

Celebrates their 10-Year Anniversary
Carl and wife Gabriella are the types of people who can’t sit still, and they are always working on a project (or three). The farm was no different. “There was a great old barn on the property that I started fixing up, and then the house, and then the outbuildings and the machine shed, and the next thing you know we had built something pretty special.” Build it, and they will come – true for a ball field in Iowa, and true for a beautiful barn in Missouri. “One of the guys that was helping me with the lakes had a daughter that wanted to get married in the big red barn. It was only half complete, but it did look pretty amazing. And from some of those first wedding guests, there were a couple more weddings. We saw that there was a real attraction for the farm and the barn, but we knew there was more potential. After a few years in the event business, both corporate events and weddings, we continued to develop the other buildings on the property, and we expanded into what is now CLC winery.” But while the facilities are special, it is really the people that set Cedar Lake Cellars apart. In an industry with lots of competition (and plenty of failures), how does Cedar lake Cellars continue to grow and thrive? According to wife and VP Gabriella Bolm, the answer is both their employees and their customers. “The key to our success is always people. Without good people, you can’t have a vision. It’s all about hiring the right people, training them, retaining them, and treating them right, and then you can succeed.” And what a successful winery it has become - now with more than 400 acres, a dining room and tasting bar, a 10,000 sq. ft. Barrel Room, the Smokehouse (now serving award-winning Sugarfire BBQ), Grab N Go Marketplace, the new Burger Shack, and, of course… great wines! CLC offers a variety of homegrown, full-flavored wines designed
to please even the most discriminating palate. The varied menu includes both Missouri and California wines, as well as a “wines of the world” section dedicated to highly regarded wine regions. “We’re very proud of our California juice and our Three Swans line,” said Carl, a wine connoisseur in his own right. “We’ve had Three Swans on the property for a long time, and we have an entire high-end line that people love. Our reds, our Cabernet, our Pinot Noir, are all just fantastic.” As a home-grown product himself, Carl also appreciates the home-grown grape. “Our Missouri wines are very popular too, whether it’s M-OO-N Route or Firetruck – we’re very proud of our local wines. As you enter the winery on the lefthand side you see our vineyard, and it’s our Missouri grape, the Norton grape. Our heritage is here in Missouri, so of course, we grow the Missouri grape!” Guests continue to post rave reviews of the winery on sites like Google and of their wedding experiences on sites like The Knot. “Our mission statement is ‘We create memorable experiences that exceed expectations and inspire each guest to return and celebrate,’ said Gabriella. “Your experiences and memories are something that can’t be taken away from you. Our customers not only come back; they also tell others. That word of mouth about their experience is our best marketing.” And succeed they wwhave, because of that experience. “Our differentiator is our venue, we host signature events that can have between 5,000 – 10,000 guests because we have the bandwidth,” says Gabriella. Carl (a wise man), agrees with his wife. “It’s about the amount of parking we have and the spaciousness that we have here. If you want to come out to CLC and sit by the lake with your loved one and have a nice quiet afternoon you can do that. If you want to come out and sample our cuisine for dinner, you can do that. If you want to come out with a group, a bachelorette party, or a group of friends from work and listen to a band, you can do that. Another big difference is our indoor capacity during inclement weather. We’ve got not only the tasting room, but we’ve also got the barrel room as well. So, if it’s a little chilly, or if it’s raining, Cedar Lake Cellars is still going strong! So, will the winery continue to grow over the next decade? “If you ask my wife, she would say no, we are done expanding,” said Carl. “But she’s a smart lady, and we are always open to opportunities. We’ve added the 10,000 sq ft Barrel Room that’s three stories with a glass ceiling, we’ve added to our smokehouse, we have firepits now all around the lake, this year we added a bridge across Swan Lake to our festival field, we’re always open to new opportunities.” They have created a wonderful venue that’s off the beaten path, but guests have beaten a path to their door. “We know we had to be more than an attraction, but a destination and an experience,” says Carl. “And that’s what we’ve created - to have people come, return, and become ambassadors for the brand. It’s our guests and our customers that are building the CLC brand. The amazing staff is the foundation of our company, and they are continuing to exceed expectations. Under promise, over-deliver. The answer is yes – what’s the customer’s question? We are excited about the growth we’ve had and continue to have with our CLC community.” For more information about Cedar Lake Cellars and the schedule of anniversary events this fall, please visit www.cedarlakecellars.com.

Step Inside The Ellis’ Home
Ready for the Holidays!
W
hat is it about the holidays that bring a sense of peace and smiles to most people’s faces? When I think of the holidays, I can almost smell my pumpkin spice candles burning in the fall and my winter pine throughout most of November and December. When I close my eyes, I can hear the holiday music playing in almost every room of our home and smell the turkey roasting in the oven. The mere thought of holiday traditions fills my heart with such joy. It was not always like that, but the older I get, the more important and special every holiday has become to our family. When our boys were younger, let’s face it, we were surviving. Simply trying to keep up with work, the house and keeping up with our children’s day to day activities. That does not mean the holidays have not always been special to us, we just did not have as much time to focus on the details as we do now that our sons are getting older. Rick and I have always tried our best to instill traditions with our children, but lately I’ve really been
44 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
reflecting on what it is that has made us want to start decorating even earlier than the year before. Our holiday rituals mark some of the most important moments in our lives and the memories we created with our loved ones that are no longer with us hold so dear to our hearts. For me, some of my best memories were during the holidays at my grandparents’ home as a child. At times there could be over 50 family members in their six-room home, and we loved it. I can still see my Grandma in her kitchen with one of her aprons on and my Mom along with all my Aunts cooking away. Meanwhile in the next room, my Grandpa, Dad and Uncles would be attempting to watch football in between several grandkids standing in front of their one console television or doing a performance for them on my grandparent’s brick fireplace. Yes, I performed for them often on that fireplace as a child. The holidays were never about the gifts. It was simply about all of us being together that one time of year no matter what else we had going on to come togeth-
er and have a wonderful meal, a game of football where someone usually left with a minor injury and of course a blessing offered to Jesus on His Birthday. As I got older and started creating my own traditions with my own family and blending in some of my husbands’ family traditions, I have cherished the holidays even more. Christmas especially is so special to my husband as well because some of his best memories as a child were the holidays with his grandparents who he treasured. Although Rick’s Grandparents lived during the great depression, his Grandpa made sure he had a portion of each paycheck set aside to go toward Christmas gifts for what he called his “dividends”. Like my family, his Mom and Grandma were wonderful cooks and always spent so much time baking many different types of holiday cookies and pies. My mother in law loved the holidays and created so many special traditions with the “grands” herself that I plan to carry on with our family. She always made sure each granddaughter received a Raggedy Ann for their first Christmas and the grandsons of course Raggedy Andy. Yes, all four of our sons still have their Raggedy Andy that they will pass down to their kids someday. Everyday life can be stressful and full of uncertainty. Having a special time of the year when we know exactly what to do, the way we have always done it, provides a comfortable sense of structure, control, and stability which we all need more than ever right now. From reciting blessings to baking cookies, holiday traditions are replete with rituals. During the holiday season, they become more meaningful. As my Dad got older, he enjoyed Christmas even more than he did when we were kids, I understand why now. He had the time to reflect and remember all the special moments he had with his own family during the holidays. He looked forward to my Mom making her “Christmas Candy”, incredible peanut butter, and coconut bon bons. I can still see him sneaking in the fridge to snatch a few and popping them in his mouth before my Mom could catch him and remind him, she was taking those to family. My Dad always looked forward to Christmas at his parents’ home as well, he always went straight to my Grandma’s storage room where she kept her homemade fudge and chocolate chip cookies stored that he loved so much. I miss my Dad, my mother-in-law and all our grandparents so very much and even more so during the holidays. I really think that is why every year Rick and I start decorating even earlier, it makes us both feel just a little closer to all of our loved ones we have lost and fills our heart with such joy and peace. Even though every year there are some that like to give us grief about decorating too early or playing Christmas music too soon, we will continue doing it because it is so important to us for our sons to appreciate the magic of Christmas. Rick usually starts playing Christmas music in September and we almost always have the entire house decorated the first week in November. For those that think you should decorate for Christmas in December, that is fine as well, it is whatever works best for everyone. But hopefully, this will give you some insight or understanding as to why some decorate early or enjoy the holiday music months ahead. This year we started especially early, September 26th to be exact, so that we could share some of our holiday decorations with
46 TRACY ELLIS: REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE
all of you. I often joke on our weekly radio shows that I married Santa Claus and I am incredibly grateful that I have a husband who absolutely loves the holidays. We have collected so many decorations over the years. We do our best to wait until after the holidays to buy decorations when they are usually more than 50 percent off. This is the first time in over 30 of our Christmases together that we have done a themed Christmas tree. Our trees have always been about our four sons’ ornaments, which we plan to still use as well, or it just would not be Christmas. But, with the addition of “Marty the Moose” and “Comet the Caribou”, I felt we needed something to pull it all together this year. We decided to incorporate a wilderness theme with some black bears. In the kitchen it is more of a gingerbread, whimsical theme with bright colors throughout. It makes my heart happy to wake up in the morning and walk into the kitchen for a cup of coffee and see the gingerbread houses lit up. I think one of the reasons I love my gingerbread houses so much is because when our boys were little, we would make our own gingerbread house ornaments. I still have most of those ornaments we made over fifteen years ago. Every time I look at my gingerbread houses, I can almost see our boys sitting around the kitchen table years ago decorating their ornaments. The hearth room is filled with old and new and is so comforting because in every area there is something from every Christmas Rick and I have spent together. Every item has a memory or a story and that is what makes it so special to us. As a kid, Rick has always enjoyed Charlie Brown, so of course we always have a special shelf for Charlie Brown and the gang along with many items from when our boys were little. Obviously being in real estate for over 20 years, we have been in some incredible homes during the holidays and that has given us many great ideas. Rick and I love decorating our home for the holidays and have always done everything ourselves with a lot of help from the boys, but a few years ago we started using a wonderful holiday decorator to do our staircases. Lise McManus is fabulous and works at April’s on Main in St. Charles. Rick and I were lucky enough to help the owner of April’s on Main with several real estate transactions and were blown away by all her beautiful decorations and unique custom creations. I really believe a good designer or decorator is almost like an artist. These ladies truly have a talent to create some magical pieces and we always look forward to Lise coming to our home for the holidays. This year, since we completely changed the theme for our Christmas tree, we let Lise work her magic there as well. Lise has a way of making something go from simple to making a statement. Of course, there are many wonderful shops all over our area that we love to shop at for holiday decorations. A few of our favorites are Three French Hens, The Porch, The White Hare and April’s on Main. Although 2020 has been a year that so many of us are looking forward to becoming a distant memory, there is still so much to be thankful for. This holiday season I plan to soak up and enjoy every moment with my family and make even more wonderful memories. Rick and I are forever grateful for each client that has trusted us to come into their home and help them with their largest investment.

Michael is a St. Louis native and has resided in St Charles County for over fifteen years. He graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School and from there went on to play baseball and earn a Bachelors degree in communications from Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee. Michael and his wife Tara have lived in the Wentzville area since May of 2019. It was important to them both to be near her work at SSM St. Joseph's West Hospital in Lake St. Louis where she is a Family Medicine Physician. Michael stated that going through the exciting process of purchasing their first home together was something he will always remember. It was during that time he found his love of real estate. "The joy a home brings to our family is something I cherish and that is the same joy I want to bring to many other families". When he is not working you will most likely find him spending time with his wife and their family or on one of the many great golf courses we have in our area.
Nikki is the Best! She has been our Real Estate Agent for over 5 years now. During this time, Nikki has sold, bought and leased houses for us, all in a timely manner and for asking price or better! She always delivers. Our most recent house was put on the market on a Wednesday evening and by Sunday, we had an offer. We credit Nikki with knowing the neighborhood and how to market during these very difficult COVID times. All Things Elderberry
A
ll Things Elderberry owners, Emilia Rizzuto and Susan Smith, never imagined they would be elderberry farmers. They were just two women struggling to fit everything in and be everything to everyone while struggling with their own personal health issues. They were just two women on their own unique healing journey when their paths crossed. While on a personal quest to find natural remedies to heal and protect herself and her family, our founder, Emilia Rizzuto, NC, created our special Elderberry Elixir. Emilia was just fifteen years old when doctors diagnosed her with Crohn’s disease. After decades of doctors and medical offices, she desired a life free of illness and the side effects that accompanied medications. She knew there had to be a better option, and so began her search for natural healing. During a particularly harsh flu season, Emilia started researching natural products and remedies for herself and her family. That’s when she found elderberries. From her home kitchen, she started bottling her elixir and sharing it with friends and extended family. The reaction was remarkable and the results undeniable. People were feeling better, staying healthy or recovering from illness faster. With the en-

couragement of her first “customers”, Emilia started sharing her elderberry elixir with the community. When Susan and her husband owned a commercial and industrial HVAC business, she was stressed to the max. Between running a business and raising children, she was left with no time to take care of herself. Susan knew she needed to take better care of herself if she wanted to take care of her family. She and her husband sold the business, which relieved some of the stress, but she knew her healing journey had only just begun. After seeing a functional medicine doctor and changing her mindset, Sue met Emilia, her soon-to-be business partner, through their mutual friend, Tracy Ellis. And so began what can only be described as an amazing elderberry-infused journey! On a road trip to Joplin, Missouri to purchase elderberries for their elixir, Emilia and Susan learned that elderberries are in short supply in America. A local farmer gave them an idea: they should grow elderberries for themselves and the rest of the world. The idea was the start of a dream come true for Susan and her husband, Mike, who had dreamed of owning their own farm for years, and it wasn’t hard to convince Emilia and her husband, Scott, to start looking for the perfect farm.
And then the world turned upside down. The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and the world shut down. Plans came to a screeching halt—mostly. When governments began to close borders, Emilia and Scott were out of the country (and yes, returning to the United States was as complicated as you would imagine!) But Susan and Mike had just been introduced to the perfect farm. Emilia and Scott went to visit the prospective farm the very day they returned from their trip. The property had been homesteaded and owned by the same family since 1839. It was beautiful. And they knew that this was their farm. They also knew they were probably bonkers for considering buying a farm, not only because it was a huge investment and neither of them had a background in farming, but also because the future was uncertain due to the pandemic. But they were looking at a once-in-a-lifetime piece of property and an opportunity to grow something much greater and more rewarding than they ever dreamed of. The opportunity to build their business literally from the roots up was too hard to pass up. They took the plunge and dove in, head and heart first. One year later, the farmer who introduced Emilia and Susan to the idea of owning their own elderberry farm is teaching them how to plant their first 9,000 elderberry plants. The farm is functioning as a nutraceutical farm, which contributes to good health and in turn a good life. Day by day and acre by acre, Emilia and Susan are creating a family legacy for generations to come. A true gift of love. At this point you may be wondering…all this for a berry? Why is the elderberry so special? First, let’s back it up. What exactly is an elderberry? Elderberry is the dark purple berry from the European Elder tree. The Elder tree has a long and rich history of use throughout the world and throughout the centuries. In 400 BC, Hippocrates, one of the most important figures in the history of modern medicine, referred to the Elder tree as his “medicine chest.” Elderberries (genus name, Sambucus) have been used in North America, Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa since the fifth century to treat influenza, infections, and upper respiratory illnesses. For a single berry to be so widely used across the globe for more than a dozen centuries must mean there’s something special about this little berry. And yes, the list of the amazing benefits of elderberry is quite extensive! Here are just a few: S Elderberry may act as an anti-inflammatory and reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body S Full of antioxidants and rich in Vitamins A, B, & C S Natural Source of Iron & Potassium S Contains anthocyanins - the components that boost your immune system S Proven antiviral effects to help combat Influenza and the common cold S May aid in reduced nasal congestion, easing allergy symptoms S Is a natural diuretic and can improve digestive issues, promoting regularity S Anti-aging benefits - supports healthy skin with bioflavonoids and high vitamin A content S May reduce blood sugar and have anti-diabetic properties resulting in increased heart health
Elderberries alone are superstars, but when combined with the supportive ingredients in our elixir, the synergistic benefits are undeniable—whether you’re feeling ill or not. Our elixir was originally created by Emilia for her family when she couldn’t find a tasty product for her children that didn’t have a lot of extra ingredients—preservatives, strong botanicals, thickeners, and added sugars. Through word of mouth, the elixir became a community favorite. Since then, it has moved from Emilia’s kitchen to an FDA approved kitchen in Fenton, MO and has expanded to over 50 local retail locations and still growing rapidly. Some of the benefits of the other ingredients in our elixir include: S CLOVES: high antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory, anti parasitic and antibacterial. S GINGER: Anti-inflammatory, can help with osteoarthritis, contains cancer fighting properties, aids in digestion and helps settle an upset stomach S CEYLON CINNAMON: high in antioxidants, helps fight bacterial and fungal infections, lowers blood sugar S HONEY: acts as a natural cough syrup and when local may aid in seasonal allergies. High quality honey is high in antioxidants, which may lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol, and lower triglycerides. Buying the elderberry farm and laying the foundation of the berries is our commitment to our customers and our families that no matter how high we reach with this company, we will always be GROUNDED and COMMITTED to making the best product possible. During these very uncertain times with all the superbugs circulating, the one thing we know for sure is that a strong immune system is the foundation of good health. We are very grateful for the opportunity to offer our elixir to anyone on their journey to natural health. Please follow us on our journey @allthingselderberry on social media.
