Women & Essential Oils
What are essential oils? Essential oils are naturally occurring chemical substances derived from plants. They can be derived from the seed, root, flower, bark or stem. They are the true essence of the plant and act as a type of immune system for the plant. They are volatile compounds which mean they evaporate quickly. The oil is extracted from the plant through careful distillation methods and can be used aromatically, topically or through diet (only therapeutic oils for diet). Each essential oil can contain hundreds of different chemical compounds and are highly concentrated. They have amazing health promoting properties and are a great addition to your wellness regime. Some of the benefits that can be experienced: + Emotional support + Physical wellness + Immune support + Skincare + Homecare products + Purifying your home + To enhance your spiritual awareness
How do we use them?
Aromatically + Diffuse in an ultrasonic diffuser + Place a drop of oil in your hands and breathe in through your nose + Smell directly from the bottle + Place a cotton ball and put near air vents in home, car and/or at work
Topically Apply oils directly to desired area. Suggested areas are; feet, behind ears, ear lobes, wrists, on front of neck, and base of skull. A general rule is to put it where it's needed. Essential oils are volatile so they evaporate quickly, when used topically use a carrier oil to delay evaporation. Dilution will not dilute the properties of the oil. Common carrier oils are coconut oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil & Jojoba oil. Be use to follow dilution guildelines for children and pets.
Ingestion Only consume Vitality essential oils which are labeled as safe to use internally. + Add a few drops to water (glass or stainless steal containers only) + Place a few drops in a vegetable or gelatin capsule + Use as spice and flavouring in cooking
Emotions
How can oils benefit our emotions? Essential oils can have a powerful influence over how we think, how we feel and how we behave. Our emotions are stored in the Limbic system (known as the emotional center of the brain). When we apply essential oils they penetrate the cell membrane and can cross the brain-blood barrier within seconds, allowing them to reach the Limbic system. The Limbic system also controls functions including adrenaline flow, behavior, motivation, long-term memory, and olfaction. Our olfactory (smell) sense is almost directly connected to the limbic system, meaning simply inhaling essential oils can have an immediate and profound effect. Not only can the inhalation of essential oils be used to combat stress and emotional trauma, but it can also stimulate the production of hormones from the hypothalamus.

Hormones
Signs of unhealthy hormones Hormones are chemical messengers that travel throughout the body coordinating complex processes like growth, metabolism, and fertility. They influence the function of the immune system, and even alter behaviour. Here are some signs that you may have some unhappy hormones: + Increased anxiety/depression/moodiness + Low energy/fatigue + Difficulty sleeping/staying asleep + Excessive hunger + Low libido + Fertility issues + Difficulty gaining or losing weight + Brain fog + Acne The toxic world we live in is playing havoc with our hormones, we are surrounded by synthetic chemicals, in the environment, household products, skincare products, and plastics, synthetic fragrances and many more environmental factors. So your lifestyle is a major factor contributing to hormone balance. What else? stress is huge, the more stress you’re under the more our cortisol levels are imbalanced. Eating a diet high in processed food, GMO and pesticides are all factors that will throw you off kilter. Cleaning up your diet and environment is key! Essential oils can help us too. Oils do not contain hormones but have properties that stimulate hormone production and balance.

Skincare Why it matters? The skin is the largest organ of the body. It acts like a giant sponge and it absorbs everything you put on it. Applying something toxic topically can be more dangerous than swallowing it. Chemical constituents in skin products are absorbed through the skin and go directly into the bloodstream where they are transported to a variety of vulnerable organs very quickly. 26 seconds after exposure chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body. The average woman uses about 12 products per day with 168 different ingredients. Over her lifetime she will ingest 4 to 6 pounds of lipstick (lipstick contains lead!) The number 2 cause of death in the United States is cancer. 1600 people die every single day from cancer. One and three cases in the US are directly linked to a poor diet, physical inactivity, weight or chemical exposure. The American Cancer Society says only 5 to 10% of all cancer cases are from gene defect. That means 90 to 95% of cancer cases are under our control. It's what we allow into our homes, and partly what we put on our skin. We need to start taking notice. Do not underestimate consumer power, if we stop buying it, they stop making it. If we demand safer products, naturally derived ingredients, they start making it.
Skincare Why Young Living? When creating a new product, Young Living takes great care to scrutinize, analyze, and research each ingredient to ensure that it is as pure as possible. They also consider the conditions of sourcing and closely monitor how ingredients are being harvested. Young Living's aim is to deliver naturally derived products that you feel confident using around your family is at the core of who they are. If they're unsure about an ingredient, they'll pass on it completely. For example, they never use artificial dyes, harsh chemicals, or fragrances other than essential oils. In place of artificial flavors, they use essential oils and natural flavoring. The elimination of these constituents helps provide products we are proud to call ours.
