Summary
The value Dubai Direct exports capped a phenomenal 98 Billion AED in 2011up by 44% on 2010.a much more higher growth rate than the 31% achieved between 2009 and 2010. Top10 exports at 4 digits level accounted for 74% of total value of exports in 2011 compared to 77% in 2010,indicating more product diversification in 2011 exports. Gold, Aluminum, Sugar, Scrap Metal, Plastics, Confectionary were among the key exports More market diversifications is exhibited in the export flow this year this year with important markets like Turkey and Singapore and Thailand coming up among the top destinations. Direct imports sources were fairly diversified with the top suppliers, India and China, taking shares 19% and 11% respectively The trade analysis shows that the number of products to countries in the region (GCC and Africa) are more than those exported to Far East, indicating potential for product diversification in new far markets Exports to 48 Target markets made up 79% of total Dubai l direct exports, signifying the importance of these markets for Dubai traders. Among the products which exhibited relative international competitiveness according to international criteria were: Aluminum, Edible Oils, Sugar and Confectionary, Essential Oils& Perfumes in addition to the traditional products like Precious Metals and Plastics The Export Monitor gives a comprehensive database of World Trade Indicators for 48 target markets including: FTA’s, Trade Policy & External Environment, Institutional Environment, Trade Facilitation and Trade Performance indicators, thus providing valuable information to the exporters about their country of first exportation .For example, the large number of FTA’s of a country is an indicator of competitiveness of that

market, since it implies that the country is giving preferential duties to many partners The Monitor includes a section on the impact of DE activities on export performance as well as the main highlights of The Exporters Needs’ Assessment Survey for 2012 which DE carries out every two years. The Value of the export transactions achieved through the facilitation by DE in 2011 was 61% for GCC market and 35% for African market. 35% of the number of deals was for new markets and 50% by relatively new companies 0-3 years old . While 93% of the deals positively impacted the performance of the exporters. Sectors covered by the facilitated transactions included: Food, Plastics, Construction Materials, Electronics, Chemicals among others According to the Needs Assessment Survey 2012. Dubai exporters are now looking for new markets in Europe and South America and Africa beyond the GCC and Middle East traditional markets. The Monitor gives in section 4 , top key statistics for trade with 15 main partners and in the last section, it highlights the opportunities and the current suppliers to the host countries for the exhibitions to which DE is planning to take UAE exporters next year, thus the information is intended to provide needed information for exporters looking into these markets in the medium term
