Stefani has teamed up with designers at Petco to launch the Harajuku Lovers collection, which features dog toys, clothing, accessories and hats inspired by her Harajuku Lovers clothing line that she created in 2005.

inger-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham is defending her decision to feature superskinny models in her runway shows, insisting all the women who work for her are "healthy". Earlier this year, the former Spice Girls star came under ﬁre for using particularly slender models to wear her clothing on the catwalk, including 17-year-old Peyton Knight who faced a barrage of online criticism over her size. However, Victoria is adamant all the models who walk in her shows are checked out to make sure they are not ill or underweight. "I wasn't the only show she (Peyton) did," Victoria explains to Britain's Telegraph magazine. "I wasn't the only designer to use her. Our casting director spoke to the (modelling) agencies, and we know

that all our girls are healthy. They're young, they're thin, but that doesn't mean they're ill." Victoria goes on to insist the online criticism was undeserved and mean-spirited: "People are mean on social media, whoever you are. It's a shame people have to be that way." The British star also talks about how she juggles her busy fashion career with her family commitments, revealing she and her husband David take turns looking after their four children. "They're (the family is) very supportive of what I do," she adds. "I don't really go away that much. David and I work it out so that we're not away at the same time, so one of us is always here (for the kids). The other day we were at (daughter) Harper's school as she had won a prize, and we were both there. "It's a juggling act, but we have great people around us to make sure it all works." "I was having dinner with Diane von Furstenberg a few months ago and she's a woman I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for," Victoria, recalled to US breakfast show Good Morning America. "And I said to her, 'Diane, when your children were younger and you were working, did you feel guilty?' She said, 'Absolutely not. It's a waste of time, a waste of energy; it's (the stress is) ageing.' And she said, 'Actually, you're setting a good example, the fact that you're a woman, you're going to work; you really are setting a good example.' "And that was great advice because I'm sure there are lots of women right now, watching TV, thinking, 'I feel guilty, I've got kids and I'm going to work.' Actually, it is a positive message to be giving to your children and other women and children as well."

Darren Lehmann tried to convince Mitchell Johnson to continue playing one-day cricket for Australia but the left-armer had little interest in the proposal. Johnson ended a decorated 73-Test career at the WACA last week, having decided during the game he would retire. Lehmann has revealed he and Steve Smith, both well aware of Australia’s inexperienced pace stocks, wanted Johnson to extend his international career beyond the second Test. However, the express paceman wouldn’t contemplate the offer. “His mind was made up as soon as he spoke to Steven and myself,” Australia coach Lehmann recently told radio station 5AA. “He’d been thinking about it for a while, been talking about it in the media. “We spoke to him about maybe playing the one-dayers, we think that was a really good option for us to have that experience there. “But he’s not into it. He’s not into the training anymore. “He’s had enough and he just wants to sit at home and watch us play.” Johnson’s exit has resulted in a major shake-

up of Australia’s pace attack. Mitchell Starc is the only quick guaranteed of a spot in the XI for the inaugural day-night Test that starts at Adelaide Oval on Friday. Josh Hazlewood, Peter Siddle and James Pattinson are all in the mix to partner Starc, while Lehmann insists left-arm tweaker Steve O’Keefe is also being seriously considered. “We’ve got some depth in young kids, but these four (Starc, Hazlewood, Siddle and Pattinson) are prime bowlers for us and we’ve got to keep them on the park,” Lehmann said. Siddle is expected to be recalled after being named 12th man for the first and second Tests against New Zealand. Hazlewood has been inconsistent this series but Lehmann felt his best bowling came on day five at the WACA. “He got better and better in Perth, he certainly bowled well with the new ball in the second innings,” Lehmann said. “Better than he probably has all series, so he looks like he’s running into a little bit of form there. “He’s a young kid ... he’d like more wickets, as we would.”

SOCCER: North hails in-form Roar teammate Bowles A switch to his preferred position has unlocked the potential in former Young Socceroos captain Daniel Bowles, who Brisbane Roar teammate Jade North says is due much of the credit for the team’s strong start to the A-League season. Bowles and North have formed a rocksolid, if unlikely, combination in the heart of Brisbane’s defence, having kept three clean sheets on the bounce before Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Melbourne City. While North, 33, seems to be getting better with age it is the sudden rise of Bowles, 24, which has taken most neutral observers by surprise. North suspects it is because Bowles has always been known, at least in the A-League, and at least until now, as a right back. Former Roar coach Mike Mulvey and his successor Frans Thijssen used Bowles in that position, while he was deployed exclusively out wide during his previous stints with Gold Coast United and Adelaide. “I don’t think he’s ever been a right-back. He’s always been centre-back,” North said on Monday. “Because of injuries last season, the season before when Mike was here, he was a

preferred right-back but I never saw him (as one). “He’s been a rock at the back.
