MARIBEL, ARTISAN OF AMATE ART
Preserving Tradition and Ending Poverty
Maribel lives in an area of extreme poverty of Mexico where safe sustainable jobs with fair wages for women are scarce. Preserving the ancient Artisan traditions of her ancestors, she creates beautiful amate paper art from the bark of local trees that grow near her village to provide for her family!
Her Fingerprint
The woman who made your jewelry impressed her fingerprint into the charm on the Identity Quartz Necklace and on the posts of the Identity Hoops!
Impact Real Lives
“As an Artisan, I’ve learned how to live a more ordered life, I’m more positive, creative, and responsible. I can buy my own clothes and take care of my son.”

“Now, I can be confident and make plans for my life and learn new things. Becoming an Artisan has also helped me to fulfill my dreams of studying, since my family is very poor. In my future, I hope to finish my studies, become a professional, and have my own business.”
