High Quality Triple De-oxidised X-Ray Quality Precision Layer Wound Smooth Feeding Clean Weld Finish International Approvals
Typical Applications: Structural Steel - General Fabrication - Light Fabrication Transport Industry -Heavy Equipment - Farm Machinery Pressure Vessels - Robotic and Semi Automatic Welding Applications
Xcel-Arc No.8 - ER70S-6 is a high quality, copper coated, triple de-oxidised solid mig welding wire supplied on 15kg and 5kg Plastic Spools. XA No.8 is a mild steel welding wire that contains higher levels of manganese and silicon than other standard grades of MIG wire to produce high quality welds when used on dirty, oily, or rusty steel. The high silicon content increases the fluidity of the weld pool, thus creating a smoother bead appearance and resulting in minimal postweld grinding. XA No.8 wire is engineered to provide porosity-free, x-ray quality welds at the highest tensile strength (as welded) of all the plain carbon steel wires. ER70S-6 Solid Mig Wire requires a shielding gas: CO² and/or CO² mix. Xcel-Arc No.8 wire is Precision Layer Wound for smooth uninterrupted wire feed with less liner and tip wear.

Smooth Arc Transfer Low Spatter Designed for CO² and Mixed Gas Smooth Bead Appearance Fast Freezing Slag All Position Welding International Approvals
Typical Appilications: Structural fabrication - General Fabrication - Transport Industry Shipbuilding - Off Shore Applications - Heavy Equipment Farm Machinery - Bridge Construction
Xcel-Core 712, features lower spatter and fume emissions than conventional products in its class. XC-712 shows excellent welding performance, soft and stable arc, low spatter loss, easy slag removal, beautiful weld appearance and high X-ray quality. This flux core wire is intended for single and multiple pass welding of carbon and certain low alloy steels and is suitable in all-positions. XC-712 flux core wire is classified with CO² shielding gas by this specification. However gas mixtures of Argon/CO² are also used to improve usability, especially for out-of position applications. XC-712 is characterised by a spray transfer, low spatter loss, flat to slightly convex bead configuration, and a moderate volume of slag which completely covers the weld bead. XC-712 wire has a rutile base slag. Superb weld ability in all positions makes XC-712 a good choice for general plate fabrication, structural steel welding, shipbuilding, steel fabrication and any instance where lower fume and spatter emissions are required. The reduced spatter is especially attractive in those operations where painting is performed immediately after welding.

XCEL-ARC ALUMINIUM MIG WIRE Precision Layer Wound • • • • • • • • •
High Quality Triple Shaved X-Ray Quality Precision Layer Wound Smooth Feeding Low Fume Factor Clean Welds International Approvals AWS, ABS, CWB, Lloyds Register, DNV, TUV, DB
Xcel-Arc 5356 is the highest quality consistent aluminium welding wire available anywhere in the world. Because our manufacturer is the only one in the world that melts and casts their own redraw rod and they have complete control of the manufacturing process allowing them to tightly control and refine the alloys’ chemical composition to exacting tolerances, this ensures premium quality aluminium wire products and outstanding welding performance. The surface finish of aluminium Mig wire is the greatest influencing factor of an electrode’s performance and consistency during welding. A poor surface finish causes a variety of welding problems and interruptions such as poor feed ability, premature liner wear, reduced contact tip life, porosity, dirty welds and burn backs. These welding interruptions increase your manufacturing costs and reduce productivity. Our focus is on providing the smoothest and most uniform surface finish possible - one that is clean and free of contamination and hydrocarbons. The consistent feed ability of Xcel-Arc aluminium wire is accomplished through use of advanced wire drawing technology and a proprietary triple shaving process. All Xcel-Arc aluminium wire goes through a unique testing and control process consisting of three steps: surface finish testing, feed ability testing, and weld ability testing. A SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) is used to inspect and control the wires surface finish and cleanliness, ensuring the best surface finish possible and superior welding performance. Utilising additional manufacturing processes and controls for wire cast, helix and diameter tolerance, we further ensure high quality, premium aluminium Mig wire. A consistent and tightly controlled diameter tolerance is another important variable that contributes to arc stability, uniformity, and quality aluminium welds. To prevent diameter fluctuations that can have a profound, negative impact on welding conditions and amperage efficiency, we tightly control diameter tolerance on all of our aluminium welding wire to exacting standards to ensure consistent welding performance and results.

WELDING CONSUMABLE TIG Tungsten Electrodes
XCEL-ARC WT20 2% THORIATED TUNSTEN ELECTRODE This has been the most commonly used type of tungsten for a long time and thus is the standard that is used for comparison to other tungstens. However, since it is a low-level radioactive hazard many users have switched to other alternatives. Regarding the radioactivity, Thorium is an alpha emitter but when its enclosed in a tungsten matrix the risks are negligible, thus holding a stick of Thoriated tungsten in your hand should not pose a great threat unless a welder has open cuts on their skin. Thoriated tungsten should not get in contact with open cuts or wounds. The more significant danger to welders can occur when thorium oxide gets into the lungs. This can happen from the exposure to vapours during welding or from ingestion of material/dust in the manufacture and grinding of the tungsten. Therefore, precautions should be taken when welding and use of an exhaust system should be implemented to remove the grinding dust from the work area when grinding tungsten. Proper disposal in an environmentally friendly way is also a responsibility. There are discussions under way in Europe about eliminating the use of thorium there altogether because of these problems. Please research this subject yourself to get a complete understanding. Notwithstanding these issues, 2% Thoriated tungsten is still the most commonly used tungsten and is a good general use tungsten. It has one of the lowest work functions, and it performs well when overloaded with extra amperage. However, it does not hold its point as well as some other non-radioactive tungsten that have been introduced. This tungsten is used primarily for DC welding and may split if used for AC welding.

XCEL-ARC WLa15 1.5% LANTHANATED TUNGSTEN ELECTRODE In Europe and Japan this has been the most popular alternative to 2% Thoriated tungsten for most applications. It is available as 2%, 1.5%, and 1% Lanthanated tungsten. Lanthanum Trioxide has the lowest work function of any of the materials thus it usually starts easiest and has the lowest temperature at the tip which resists grain growth and promotes longer service life. Testing of 2% Lanthanated material showed that it offers much longer life than Thoriated if not overloaded and better arc starting in most applications. It is also especially good at; - Resisting the “Thermal shock” of pulsing - Welding in situations where there are numerous re-ignitions with a short weld cycle - Resistance to contamination. Welders with tube mill applications have been especially satisfied with this material because its longer life reduces down time. Also, as a general rule it will probably require about 15% less amps to start and sustain low current arcs. Lanthanum in this tungsten is a “rare earth” material and is not radioactive. This tungsten is primarily used for DC welding, but will also show good results for AC welding.

WELDING CONSUMABLE TIG Tungsten Electrodes
XCEL-ARC WZ8 0.8% ZIRCONIATED TUNSTEN ELECTRODE Zirconiated Tungsten has good performance in AC welding. It easily forms and retains a balled tip at the end of the tungsten which is ideal to give the radiating arc suited to AC TIG welding. Zirconiated tungsten electrode produces an extremely stable arc and resists tungsten spitting. Zirconiated tungsten has a high resistance to contamination with excellent performance in high load AC welding. Zirconiated Tungsten is most commonly used for AC welding of aluminium and magnesium alloys. Zirconiated is not recommended for DC welding.

XCEL-ARC WCe-2 1.8 - 2.2% CERIATED TUNSTEN ELECTRODE Ceriated tungsten electrodes (AWS classifi cation EWCe-2) contain a minimum of 97.30 percent tungsten and 1.80 to 2.20 percent cerium and are referred to as 2 percent ceriated. Ceriated tungstens perform best in DC welding at low current settings. They have excellent arc starts at low amperages and become popular in such applications as orbital tube welding, thin sheet metal work. They are best used to weld carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium, and in some cases it can replace 2 percent thoriated electrodes. Ceriated tungsten is best suited for lower amperages it should last longer than Thoriated tungsten higher amperage applications are best left to Thoriated or Lanthanated tungsten.
