We have a long-standing heritage within our local community and a strong track record of continued success. Our purpose is to unlock the potential and foster the success of the students, employers and communities that we so proudly serve. Ultimately, we exist to change lives for the better. Our aim is two-fold – to provide an inclusive educational offer that serves the needs of our local community and to provide a career focused curriculum that meets the skills needs of businesses across the region, enabling individuals to further their employment prospects. We work with hundreds of employers, locally and regionally, to ensure that the education and training we deliver meets the skills needs of now and the future. In short, we are here to ensure our students develop the skills, attitudes and behaviours required for success in life and work. Our greatest strength is our amazing colleagues who continuously strive to provide an excellent educational experience to all our students. Our teaching staff have a wealth of industry and academic expertise, our educational support staff are highly skilled and responsive to student need, and our business support staff enable us to deliver a quality customer experience.

We pride ourselves on the quality of the student experience. Whilst undertaking a qualification(s) is a main motivation for our students, we also provide a whole range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities that enrich college life. From student societies, volunteering, engagement in climate change and sustainability, student democracy, sports and active leisure – there is almost an endless menu of ways to get involved in the wider college community. The world of further education can seem quite complex. There are many options for you to choose from. We are very well placed to guide you on these important next steps, and our amazing advice and guidance teams including Careers, Employer Partnerships and School Liaison can provide you with the information you need. For young people leaving school we provide technical education (including the new T levels), academic education (including A Levels) and apprenticeships. We also have a range of options available if you are not quite ready for one of those three pathways. We are the Trafford & Stockport College Group. We were formed by the union of Trafford College and Stockport College in 2018, and in 2020 we were joined by The Cheadle College and Marple Sixth Form College to support the learning and ambitions of people and organisations across the two boroughs of Stockport and Trafford. We have nearly 13,500 learners across our five campuses in Stockport and Trafford.

TRAFFORD COLLEGE Trafford College With a campus in both Altrincham and Stretford, and nearly 200 courses available, offering everything from A Levels to T Levels and vocational qualifications, as well as apprenticeships and adult education, Trafford College is one of the biggest education providers in the borough. At Trafford College, we have a course for everyone, so whatever your ambitions are, we will be able to help.

THE CHEADLE COLLEGE We have excellent results in both A Level and vocational courses making The Cheadle College a great option, whatever you are hoping to study. We treat every student as an individual and our exceptional support staff will make sure you have everything you need to succeed. We have recently received approval for a £27m campus redevelopment, planned to open at the end of 2025.

MARPLE SIXTH FORM COLLEGE

STOCKPORT COLLEGE Specialising in vocational courses, Stockport College is the perfect choice if you prefer practical courses which provide you with real-world experience and skills. Studying at our new £25m campus will give you the knowledge and confidence to enter employment or go to university after you leave college.

UNIVERSITY CENTRE We are proud to be the town’s only Higher Education provider where you will benefit from dedicated tutors and small class sizes delivering a range of qualifications including HNCs, HNDs, Foundation and Undergraduate degrees as well as the new Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs). The Cheadle College gets government approval for £27 Million redevelopment The Cheadle College, along with Marple Sixth Form College joined The Trafford College Group last year to sit alongside Stockport College and Trafford College, with the combined group now serving over 11,000 students across the two boroughs of Stockport and Trafford. The investment at The Cheadle College will deliver a purposebuilt facility replacing the existing estate, most of which dates to the 1950s. The redevelopment will enable the college to provide high-quality, enhanced facilities for the entire offer including A Levels, provision for students with high needs and technical education. The provision for adult learners will be significantly upgraded through the project, including new facilities for highly popular and successful Horticulture and Arts courses. There will also be new facilities to support the student experience including learning resource centre, student services and dedicated social spaces.

With government approval, the project is expected to be completed by Autumn 2025 and now moves to the appointment of a construction partner following the initial appointment of the IBI Group as architects and educational specialists, Abacus as the project management team. The proposed redevelopment follows similar levels of investment seen at Stockport College over the last few years where the final stage of its £25m redevelopment is due to conclude at the end of this year.

We were delighted to be named as England’s top performing college at this year’s WorldSkills UK finals! WorldSkills celebrates the best in young talent from across the United Kingdom in disciplines ranging from engineering, digital and manufacturing through to the creative industries, business, health, and hospitality. This year Greater Manchester based colleges, universities and training providers hosted the finals which culminated in two days of intense competition following six months of local and regional qualifiers. With four medal winners in the disciplines of Plumbing (Gold medal), Nail Technician (Silver medal), IT Support Technician (Silver medal) and Foundation Skills Motor Vehicle (Bronze medal), the Trafford & Stockport College Group topped the medal charts for English colleges. The Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education Robert Halfon said, “I would like to congratulate all the competitors in the UK WorldSkills final. They are all winners in my eyes for choosing a pathway that will build their skills and career potential,

allowing them to climb the skills ladder of opportunity.” More than 6,000 young people registered to take part in this year’s competition and as well as medal success we also entered the most registrants for the second year running. We have a range of support options available. Whatever you need help with, we’re here for you. LEARNER SUPPORT We offer a wide range of personalised support to ensure you can fully access the college and your course. We will help you to find the strategies that work for you during your time with us and in your future career.

FUNDING & FINANCE SUPPORT We have a range of financial support packages that you may be able to access depending on your circumstances. If you’re a student aged 16-18 then you do not pay any tuition, registration or exam fees, but you may be required to purchase course-related resources during your studies.

CAREERS PROGRAMME We provide you with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to make positive career choices. The Careers Programme is tailored to the needs of individual students and provides a range of activities prior to enrolment, on programme and as part of your progression at the end of your course.

ENGLISH & MATHS SUPPORT English and Maths are the heart of our curriculum offer. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP The Cheadle College is proud to partner with our local community organisations. We have an established Community Partnership to help support our students’ challenges, and also to work with us to deliver opportunities. We partner with a range of organisations, and they provide a valuable insight into how we can be a central part of the thriving community of Stockport. Some of the experiences with our partners include tutorial delivery, bespoke workshops, cultural opportunities and development of confidence and resilience, which we believe will support you in your future life choices and career options.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE KITCHEN We are well aware, as an organisation, of the challenges our students and their families face each day. In responding to that we have developed a co-operative in partnership with our community partners, to help remove the everyday barriers to a successful student experience. We are proud to be able to offer a “just ask” service, which our students can access discreetly from their student SharePoint, where they can request everyday items which may have created a barrier to their focus on education. Items include food staples, personal hygiene products, hot meal vouchers and any other essentials. This cooperative way of working means our students can access the support they need and in addition, have the opportunity to support their community by volunteering.

GREEN COLLEGE ASSEMBLY An environmental campaign group to help make the college and local communities become a greener, safer environment. Take part in Planet Earth Games, undertake Carbon Literacy Training, and spread the message about acting against environmental issues we face today. Campaign on activities to support carbon reduction.

It’s quite challenging but it’s an exciting experience. You get to achieve things you probably thought you never would, and it gives you a great sense of selfaccomplishment.

From my experience I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and being able to take part in all the different activities and groups available. I would definitely recommend it to any new students joining the college who want to see what the college has to offer them in addition to their course.

You must remember that studying isn’t everything and sometimes you just need a break. Going to the clubs and college groups you will learn something new but it’s also a place where you can just relax and be yourself.

Definitely get involved with any of the groups. I think it’s such a massive chance that other colleges don’t provide but it’s something that is going to make you stand out on your personal statement and your CV. It’s also about joining in with the community and having a voice.

WORK EXPERIENCE Every course will also have a programme of guest speakers from industry who will visit your classes to share with you their professional experiences and what is important in making yourself a success.

All full-time students will have a minimum entitlement of 36 hours of work-related learning per year, and for many of our students this is far greater.

We offer volunteering opportunities for you to gain new experiences, develop teamwork and communication skills, support your community, and build your CV. We also support an annual charity which is chosen by staff and students at the college where you can be involved in fundraising activities and build your skills.

We offer a wide range of courses from Entry Level through to University Level, which means that there is a course available for you at an appropriate level. We are committed to ensuring that no matter what your qualifications, you can still progress and achieve your career goals at The Cheadle College. IMPORTANT: Entry requirements are a guide to which level of course will be right for you and some courses require specific grades and entry requirements. You will find more detail on entry requirements in the course information sheets on our website.

ENTRY/LEVEL 1 No formal entry requirement or qualifications are required to enrol on an Entry/Level 1 course, however, we expect all of our students to demonstrate a willingness to learn and work and the behaviours and attitudes that will support their progression and success. Please refer to course information for any specific Level 1 entry requirements.

A LEVELS A Levels are studied over two years and you will generally choose three subjects to study. Some A Levels have coursework but are mostly graded through exams. A Levels are a great option if you want to find more out about subjects you’re interested in, in a greater depth, but don’t want to specialise in a particular subject yet. Studying A Levels can lead to university, training, further study, degree apprenticeships or employment.

VOCATIONAL Vocational courses help you to develop real-world knowledge, experience and skills. These courses are a great choice if you already have an idea of your future career and will give you a head start when applying to university or looking for employment after you finish with us. Vocational courses may have some examined elements but are mostly assessed by coursework.

APPRENTICESHIPS

T LEVELS

Looking to start work now? Then an apprenticeship could be for you. You’ll learn on the job and pick up a recognised industry standard apprenticeship qualification. You will earn a salary and spend 20% of your apprenticeship completing necessary training and courses to support you in your role.

T Levels are a relatively new qualification and are a high level, technical alternative to A Levels. Like A Levels, they are studied over two years, but they combine the careerfocused elements of vocational courses with the theory and study of A Levels. A key feature of T levels is their extended industry placement where you will spend at least 45 days with a local employer, relevant to your chosen area of study. T Levels are two-year courses that combine classroom learning with industry placements. They are equivalent to three A levels and cover a range of subjects. T Levels are designed with employers, so you can learn practical skills for your future career or further study.

EQUIVALENT TO 3 A LEVELS T Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent in size to 3 A levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

A 45-DAY INDUSTRY PLACEMENT Each T Level includes an in-depth industry placement that lasts at least 45 days. Students get valuable experience in the workplace; employers get early sight of the new talent in their industry.

80% CLASSROOM, 20% WORK T Level students spend 80% of the course in their learning environment, gaining the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where they put these skills into action.

Studying Uniformed Public Services with us will be an exciting and challenging experience where you will learn about the different services, such as the police, fire service, and armed forces. Throughout your studies, you will be introduced to a range of topics which may include law and policy, emergency planning, and public safety. Once suitably qualified job roles such as a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, armed forces personnel, prison officer, border control officer, and more will become available to you. Each role within the uniformed public service sector comes with distinct responsibilities, duties, and requirements, all aimed at serving and safeguarding the public. With a qualification in Uniformed Public Services, you’ll be well-prepared to pursue a career in any of these fields. Our Progression Curriculum provides an inclusive, accessible and ambitious curriculum offer. We provide our students with a genuinely supportive learning environment where happy and confident young people can maximize their own potential and where specialist SEND teachers and learning facilitators work collaboratively creating inclusivity, supporting a person led approach.

CHOICES Our specialist Entry 1 and 2 provision is available to support learners with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve a range of bespoke qualifications and is based in our specialist facilities at Cheadle campus. Successful students will have the opportunity to progress to a presupported internship, work and/or volunteering.

FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES Our foundation programmes at Entry 2/3 and Level 1 are for young people who may have been disengaged from learning, underachieving or unsure about their study choices. Students will be introduced to vocational and employability skills alongside English, maths, digital literacy, and citizenship to enable progression to further study in the wider college, an apprenticeship programme or employment.

PRE-SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP Our pre-Supported Internships are in partnership with Pure Innovations and provide a collegebased internship for young people with an EHCP not quite ready for an off-site internship and supports the development of employability skills alongside work experience placements.

SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP Our Supported Internships are based off site with a trusted partner and provide a unique opportunity for young people with an EHCP to enhance their employability skills in a real working environment where interns are treated as an equal in the workplace which shows that they are valued members of the workforce.

COLLEGE READY This is a pre-college course for young people who have just finished school and are thinking of coming to college in September. College Ready is a two- day transition course which will help you to familiarise yourself with our supportive college environment, take part in fun team building activities, experience vocational tasters and have an opportunity to make friends, meet teachers and support staff.

If you are not quite ready to study a full-time course…

STEP INTO LEARNING Step into Learning is designed for young people who are undecided about their future career and don’t feel ready to access a full- time course or need support to enter the world of work. This 10-week, 10 hour course will support young people who have been disengaged from learning to attend college, helping to remove barriers to participation in education and re-integrate into a learning setting.

Learning beyond the classroom…

E-LEARNING

Our Blended Learning Programme is for young people who are unable to access learning on site due to health issues. This mixed delivery programme will help you to overcome barriers to learning with the ultimate aim to support you to on site learning. Your curriculum will be planned to coincide with parallel on- site course to allow a blended approach, allowing you to attend in person sessions when you feel confident to do so.

PROGRESSION CURRICULUM

This course is aimed to improve your confidence with English and maths skills through project- based learning which will develop essential skills for work and life. Our specialist Choices teachers will support you to develop English, maths, and digital skills through a range of versatile projects that are designed to support flexible and personalised learning, giving you the opportunity to develop basic skills and confidence that are needed for life, work and study.
