ROBERT MOORE

NATURE’S VOICE

This current body of work is focused on exploring natural color progressions. In nature, there is always an order encompassing the amazing variety. I am trying to capture some of the beautiful variations of colors while maintaining a harmony and a simple composition that has clear information. The surface is also a big part of my search as an artist. It falls within the same parameters as the color. I want the textures of the surface to have variety yet seem as though they are part of a natural order.

I hope you enjoy the work.

Robert Moore possesses a sincerity and courtesy that reflect his Idaho farm upbringing. He was raised near the Snake River where his appreciation for nature was sparked. A contemplative, quiet individual, Moore discovered art as a way to freely express his feelings.

He often paints en plein air to best express the immediate impression of each subject, however, it is back in the studio where he skillfully manipulates the silhouettes of the masses, the color harmonies and the subtle value progressions which are seemingly unlimited. The challenge is then to edit and simplify those relationships, the color stepping, the dynamic shapes and show an honest impression of the scene. Vivid colors and high-keyed values reveal a spiritually inspired joy, his paintings imbued with a characteristic mood and energy that invite the viewer to experience all the beauty he sees in nature.

Several trips abroad, including China, Canada and the Tuscan countryside have also inspired many canvases. In recent years, Moore has become a highly sought-after instructor and teaches multiple workshops a year.

Robert has been profiled in numerous magazine articles including Western Art Collector, Southwest Art, Wildlife Art, Big Sky Journal and Art of the West.

Robert Moore and his family live on a farm in the heart of the Snake River Basin.
