ROBERTSON PARK: STIMULATING DEL PASO HEIGHTS
Sacramento, California
Public Interest Design Initiatve. Arch 480
the underserved neighborhoods of del paso heights were the focus of this project. creang and smulang a new identy for the surrounding community by redesigning the park into a sports complex to acrue revenue for its growth. My approach to this intervenon was to minimize the cost of the park redesign while simultaneously creang a combined sunshade/water catchment system to smulate social pockets within the park. the water would then be pumped into tanks which would rely on gravity to disperse through the community center and restrooms as an effecve and cheaper alternave to a two pump system. The newly invented spaces would inheret a new neighborhood identy for the smulaon of the underserved community

New Directions in Architectural Transformations. Arch 382 This Projects Target was to revitalize a historic fire staon into a sustainable transit Hub for small businesses and public transportaon services that connect to the community to promote sustainable living. My Focus was to keep the original brick rectangle form of the fire house and create a “Wrap” around the extrior to juxtapose the old and the new buildings. I also designed a rooop system built up of steel rods and conrete panels to simultaneously diffuse natural light into the upper floors, allow for natural venlaon, and shed rainwater from the roof to an exterior bioswale. The falling water from the roof was also intended to create an acousc shield from the adjacent train staon. 12

Enhancement of Urban and Rural Relations. Arch 380 My Inial design exploraons centered around four main concepts: To enlighten the community of the importance of agriculture, bring program congruency to the people and the landscape, administer educaonal opportunies for the community and limit the footprint of the structure without compromising its integrity. I wanted to compliment the programming layed out through both structures to enhance the efficeiny, organizaon, and mobility.

Boat Workshop for At-Risk Youth. Arch 381 The spotlight of the boat workshop was the minimal space given for this infill project. I designed the workshop with 3 ers that included a workspace on the boom floor, a study space and collaboraon area on the second floor, and the third floor held professor offices and a gallery of finished work. The three story design inspired an invenon of a sliding door that collapses within each shell of itself to maximize useful space and easy in and out boat export.
