Intrepid Travel

From its tangled jungles to coastal surf beaches, historic sites from past civilisations, and abundant wildlife, Sri Lanka is a treasure trove to be delicately uncovered. Visit the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya (Lion Rock), and if you are fit enough, climb all the way to the top up the 1200 steps. Marvel at the Dambulla Cave Temple, a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries with five sanctuaries. Admire the giant stupas at Anuradhapura – the first ancient capital – and Polonnaruwa, the second ancient capital with its Sacred Quadrangle. In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Lanka’s most important shrine. Head for the hills to see the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, while in Galle watch the locals fishing on stilts.

Sri Lanka also has spectacular national parks including Yala, Wilpattu, Minneriya, Udawalawe and Horton Plains, where the World’s End awaits.
