A tourist takes a picture… in Canada (and a free gift!)

Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies is one of the most photographed places in the world. It is fed by a glacier and therefore the water is emerald green and azure, ideal for beautiful pictures. It was there in the year 2012 that I first saw someone take pictures with an Ipad (it looked somewhat ridiculous) and also for the first time I saw a drone shooting images from above. The majestic mountains are reflecting in the clear water as you quietly canoe in the spring. Often there is no wind, and therefore the reflections are perfect in the water. I deliberately chose a non-classic image of the surroundings with the mountains and the glacier. The simple picture exudes the purity of nature and the tranquility of the place. Your eyes focus directly on the red canoe, then they wander off into the greenery

around there: trees and water, almost tone on tone. The morning light in April was ideal to lighten the boat, further proof of the theory of the famous Belgian photographer, Michiel Hendrickx: ‘The best light is the backlight’ (also the title of one of his photo books).
