Baldan Bereeven Monastery is located in Umnudelger sum, Khentii aimag. It was established in 1777 by lama Tseveendorj when he had completed the main temples. The Chogchin Dugan or Great Hall was completed in 1813. Baldan Bereeven means Drepung in Sanskrit or ‘Pile of Rice’.
Uglugchiin Wall is located 45 km South West of Batshireet sum of Khentii aimag. It lies in the Valley of Daichin Mountain and was built with skillfully piled stones without the use of any clay or mud. ‘Great Queens’ Palace’ museum The museum was built in 2011. In Mongolian history, there were 34 great queens. The life of the 17th queen was related to the history of Onon River. Also the Onon River was the birthplace of the three most famous queens (Aloungua, Oulun and Borte.)
The monument to Chinggis khan was built on occassion of the 750th anniversary of the Great Mongolian empire in 1962. It’s a 4m figure carved on a white stone in the shapes of a number of mountain peaks with old Mongol script about the last word of ‘Secret History of Mongols’ running down on other side of the stone.

Danshig Naadam originates in the 16th century, when Mongolia was divided into seven khoshuu (region) after Gersenz Jalair Khaan’s (the 16th generation descendant of Chinggis Khaan) widow divided Khalkha Mongol to her seven princes. The seven khoshuu of Khalkha gathered annually at Danshig Naadam and competed in Three Manly Games of the Mongols – archery, wrestling and horse racing. Danshig was an important event, which unified the rupturing Khakha princes under one roof once a year. Besides enjoying the festive atmosphere, horse racing and traditional archery, there will be ample opportunities to photograph various Buddhist rituals, including the Tsam dance. Tsam dance is an ancient ritual. Recorded evidences show that Tsam was first performed in 775-881 in Tibet. The word ‘Tsam’ means a dance of the Buddha (deva) and elements of this dance show as if protectors and deities have physically descended on Earth. In Mongolia, the Tsam was introduced at the beginning of the 18th century and the first tsam performance in Mongolia was in Erdene-Zuu Monastery in 1786. After lunch at a ger camp drive back to the Danshig Naadam ground to enjoy the Mongolian traditional wrestling and cheer with the crowd. The main purpose of Danshig Naadam is to give foreign visitors a unique chance to experience traditional wrestling, archery and horse racing contest from closer distance in order to have an opportunity for fastidious photo and video features. Originally a test of a nomad’s aptitude, it requires strength, stamina, accurate marksmanship and skillful horsemanship. Given the equine nature of nomadic life, much importance is placed on the horse races. Drawing herdsman from hundreds of miles around, races are staged on the vast steppes covering distances of up to 20 miles This event provided together with fashion and folk music and dance show is a fascinating experience of Mongolian Nomad culture to remember.

TOUR NOTES Hotels in Ulaanbaatar city reserved for double occupancy on more than 2pax, and in countryside, all ger-styled tourist camps are based on three or four person occupancy. Your accommodation uses standard rooms unless otherwise specified on your itinerary. Check-in at hotels is at 2:00pm/Checkout is at 12:00pm. Traveling over long distances is done in 4 x 4 vehicles, often over rough terrain, for approximately 4 to 9 hours depending upon road and weather conditions. Daily driving distance is around 150-350 km. Your holiday includes transfers, accommodation and excursions as specified in your itinerary. The board basis for your holiday is detailed at the end of each day. It is the responsibility of the client to be fully covered with travel and medical insurance while traveling in Mongolia. THE MONGOLIAN GER The only hotels in Mongolia are in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. Throughout the countryside, accommodation is offered in the form of traditional Mongolian gers. These ger camps are slightly modified for tourists, but in effect, offer a traditional experience and the opportunity to experience Mongolia’s wilderness. The gers are made from wooden frames with layers of canvas and felt. Interior wood is carved or brightly painted and they are equipped with two or more beds, a small table and stools. Communal bathroom facilities are in basic, but clean blocks nearby. There are also restaurants and bars in a separate building, or in large gers. Whilst visiting Mongolia is hugely rewarding, it is a wilderness destination and the accommodation is basic. Juulchin Tourism Corporation uses the best gers available in each area and the itinerary has been put together to enable stays in the best camps at the most attractive locations. SUGGESTED CLOTHES & PACKING LIST What clients should expect for meals: What is available in Mongolia? Generally, the quality of meals in Mongolia is good, due to the quality of meat, which is 100% organic and free-range. Meals in the city will be in restaurants, which serve European, Asian and Mongolian cuisines. In the ger camps, the meals will be either European or Mongolian. When camping with tents, meals will be much simpler. Extremes of weather and how to prepare for them: The temperature can change from day to night unpredictably and drastically, so, one should bring warm clothes to wear during the night-time. Waterproof wind jacket, gloves and hat are also essential. What to bring – including clothing, food, equipment: Other items to pack include: Trekking boots, warm clothes, sunglasses, lip balm, forehead flashlight, notebook and pens, spare batteries, a compass, multiple copies of identification, medical kit first aid box, your personal toiletries (including hand and bath towel, shampoo and shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrush, dental floss). Wear a money belt for your valuables (passport, cash, etc.), Money exchange information: Travellers should carry a supply of clean and new US dollar bills. Traveller cheques are not common in Mongolia. Credit cards (Visa or MasterCard) are only accepted in Ulaanbaatar. Most Asian and European currencies can be traded in Ulaanbaatar, but the US dollar is the most reliable form of currency. The money can be changed in banks and exchange offices.
