AUTOS

BUSES

Gupta’s Textiles is a wellentrenched Bangalore men’s dressing brand store since six decades. Started in 1964 by Raj Narayan Gupta in Gandhinagar, Gupta’s Textiles is now in the hands of the third generation of the enterprising business family.

From the joint family business then, as the family grew the business was divided and thus in 1985, Gupta’s Textiles Annexe was set up as a new entity. With its first store in Gandhinagar, it was in Majestic itself till 2002. Then later, the store was shifted to Malleshwaram in 2006 where it still stands over of space.

The Founder of Gupta’s Textiles, Raj Narayan Gupta hailed from the small town of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh and was an Engineer by qualification. He came to Bangalore and constructed the Gandhinagar market which came to be known as Gupta Market. Later his entrepreneurial spirit had him dabbling in ventures as diverse as a hotel lodge and icecream shop. Then he realised the potential and demand for textiles and set up Gupta’s Textiles, and since then, there has been no looking back.

Gupta’s Textiles was the most famous men’s clothing store with ethnic and Western apparel including Raymond’s suitings and shirtings, ethnics suits, sherwanis and more for men, being the only such store for gentlemen in Bangalore that time. From 1964 to about 1990, Gupta’s totally dominated the market for men’s premium suits, shirts, trousers and fabrics with in-house tailoring.

The legacy continued when in 1985, the next generation Punith Gupta took over the reins of the business, and now the third generation is also hands-on with his sons Adarsh Gupta and Nischal Gupta joining the family enterprise. In fact, the entire family is handson and involved in the day-to-day running of the business including the ladies of the family, with all members handling the stores themselves, along with staff.
