Skal Club of Coimbatore takes selfless initiative, makes a societal difference

By Smiti Jain Narayan Skal Club of Coimbatore was started in the year 2019 February, after a year of putting together the process to form it, by the tireless efforts of D. Charles Fabian of The Residency. His concentrated gathering of about 27 like-minded people as the starting members bore fruition, and Skal Coimbatore was formed amidst much cheer and enthusiasm.

For the uninitiated, Skal is a club exclusively for the fraternity belonging to travel, tourism and hospitality industry, including hoteliers, travel agents, tour operators, hotel management people and others associated with the world of

Charles Fabian has been the President for 2 terms in a row, he has formed a new team consisting of Sk. Arun Kumar as Vice President, Sk. Ramesh Chandrakumar as Secretary, Sk. P. Ganesh as Treasurer, Sk. Prem Kanna as Director of Young Skal, Sk. Ashok Kumar as Director Events, Sk. I. Gugan as Director PR Activities, Sk. Krishnaraj as Director of Membership Drive. undertaken by Skal Club of Coimbatore as CSR initiatives, including blood camps, hygiene and cleanliness drives, good practices in cooking for government canteens, rescue operations and first aid training camps, and other highly useful and socially relevant activities. To highlight the celebration of 75 years of Indian Independence further, a 75 feet long cake was baked and Dr. Mathiventhan, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, TN, was invited to grace the event. District Collector Dr. G. Sameeran, Regional Passport Officer Palravindran, Mohammed Farooq, Regional Director for Southern Region (India Tourism) were among other dignitaries who attended the event. This event was sponsored by SIHRA (South India Hotels & Restaurants Association), India Tourism Board and TN Tourism all of whom extended their support to this function organised in September 2022. With the enthusiasm and active planning by leading luminaries of the city, Skal Club of Coimbatore is a splendid example of all that can be achieved when a few good people get together with common purpose to make a difference.
