THE DESIGNS
"
The Art Center " was a project designed to create an arts center at Riverfront Park in North Charleston , South Carolina . The purpose was to design a 4000 square foot art center that included a workspace and gallery for the people of North Charleston .
In my project , my partner and I decided to design a multi - story building so that the studio spaces were separated from the gallery allowing for a more quiet space to work . I also positioned the windows so that they were facing the north allowing for northern light to come in as well as facing the stage and water creating a more scenic view .

“ The Crystal ” was a project that took place on the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn , New York .
This project was to have a team of two students design a collaborative work space that overlooked the canal and allowed access to the subway station above the sight .
My partner and I designed a space using a push and pull method on different surfaces in order to create its unique crystallized shape . We also wanted to incorporate public space as much as possible by creating a ramping system that wraps around and through our entire building .

“ The Live Edge ” was a project located in Hilton Head , South Carolina . The purpose was to design a nature center for Honey Horn Plantation to accompany the surrounding buildings throughout site .
Our building ; s location was influenced by the live oaks on the western edge of the site . Utilizing these live oaks as an edge condition allowed us to create a nature walk that bleeds into the channels that these trees created . This allowed us to interact with the different ecologies located throughout Honey Horn Plantation .

“ The Nest ” was created to provide a nature learning center to the Denver Audubon Society . The nature center provides learning spaces , check - in , bathrooms , and office spaces for the people of the Denver Audubon Society as well as its visitors .
The “ campus ” layout creates a learning environment where you are surrounded by knowledge no matter where you are .
The idea of creating a “ nest ” comes from inspiration by Kengo Kuma with the intentions of stacking wooden beams to create a roof canopy over the entire campus as well as natural nesting for the birds that inhabit this land .

“ The Town Hall ” was created to provide a sense of renewed life to the town of Seaside , Florida . The town hall provides learning meeting spaces , check - in , parks and recreation , multiple office spaces , bathrooms , and more for the people of the Seaside , Florida , as well as its visitors .
The layout is focused on the use of a grid derived from column placement within the program . With that , there is also a focus on central circulation throughout the building as well as incorporating the idea “ Southern Tradition " with large rap - around porches .
The idea of framing views comes from the large axis that cuts through the town of Seaside from the ocean all the way to the church . The rooftop deck allows for visitors to view the town from each intimate dormer that overlook the surrounding landscape .
