Kiasmus Films (2013-2016) Co-Founder, Cinematographer Produced, shot, and edited a variety of short films and commercials for major brands including Bristol-Myers Squibb, VariZoom, Kotex, Black & Decker, and IHG. Developed all print and digital marketing pieces, and was responsible for driving new business.

Smith Photographers (2009-2016) Co-Founder, Photographer Shot a variety of commercial and editorial photography for clients like Fox Sports Detroit, Health Plus, hap, and DTE. Built and maintained websites and ecommerce channels using the wordpress, woocommerce, and shopify platforms. Traveled to ten countries throughout Europe and Asia on shooting editorial and travel photo and video stock.

Work & Play I consider myself one of the fortunate in that I absolutely love what I do. Work often feels like play. I have an insatiable passion for photography and cinematography. When I set out to play, I naturally find myself with gear in hand, ready to create something new. Photography and video have become a natural state of mind, and synonomous with play. I think any successful creative will tell you something similar. Creativity comes easiest when we are doing something that gives us joy, that fulfills our passions and fuels our smile. Work should feel like play, and play should result in better work. Over the next several pages I’d like to share a bit of my work and play. Some of the work was commisioned as work. Some was created out of personal ambition. However, all are the result of some serious play. Let’s kick it off with some motion, followed by a series of photo projects. DESCRIPTION VariZoom is a major player in the video production industry, making commercial grade equipment for large production studios. In 2013 VariZoom announced their entry into the prosumer market with their revolutionary five-in-one multipurpose camera support. This video premiered at NAB, where VariZoom walked away with the Black Diamond award.

DESCRIPTION IHG launched a campaign to hightlight the benefits of staying at the Candlewood Suites. The campaign focused on making the Candlewood Suites your “Home Base” and targeted traveling businessmen looking for a place to stay that is as comfortable and convenient as staying at home (or even more so). The message was communicated using a quirky but likeable 30-something age male and delivered with an upbeat and humorous tone.

04 PROJECT NAME NOMADS IN THAILAND CLIENT NAME PERSONAL PROJECT CATEGORY TRAVEL

DESCRIPTION In 2014 my family and I decided to embark on a year-long world tour. We began with a month and half in the UK, then proceeded to Western Europe where we spent a month or so in each of France, Italy, and Spain. From there we ventured over to Southeast Asia for a three-month stay in Thailand. Then we ventured further South for a couple months in Bali. We wrapped up our tour with a month in Vietnam. The trip was nothing short of amazing, and only enflamed our love of travel and adventure. In order to document the trip we created a video in each country. Each video hits the highlights of the trip and gives a glimpse of the amazing adventure we had and the many experiences we shared as a family.

DESCRIPTION As part of their fund-raising efforts for cancer research, Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsored four employees that formed a team to race in the 2014 Race Across America - the longest and most difficult cycling race in the world. We were hired as a media team to cover the race and follow the team throughout their training and as they raced across the country. Each night we were tasked with producing and uploading a race update complete with photography and footage from that day’s progress. During the race there was a serious accident in which one of the riders was blown off his bike and we transitioned from media crew to emergency response team. After racing the athlete to the hospital (where he was later transferred via lifeflight to Denver) we were back on the road and covering the race. The team was spectacular. Even with the loss of one of their members, they raced on to crush the world record for a mixed four-person team.
