Meet Our One-Of-A-Kind Agents Greg Burnette has just entered the real estate business part time and was just awarded Rookie Agent of the Quarter here at The Real Estate Firm! He is currently in his twelfth year teaching high school. Greg was born and raised here in Knoxville. He has his Masters from the University of Tennessee. Preston Farabow is a local artist who decided the way of his life was metal. No not the music kind, the kind you can bend! Preston owns and operates Aespyre Metal Design at Ironwood Studios, a gallery and working studio in Knoxville, TN. He is a proud father of two sons and has called Tennessee home for nearly 20 years. Doctor Sid Doctor Sid is an interesting local artist who uses not only the camera, but also technology to puts his own touch into his photos! Who better to sum up his work than the artist himself, “While all of my works begins in the camera, it is my mind, hands and Wacom tablet that add life to them. Through the use of Controlled Depth of Field and Selective Dynamic Range Processing my works appear to be a mixture of painted works and photographs.” Doctor Sid takes a unique approach to everyday snapshots. His work is the kind that makes you stop and stare when you walk into a room! The Real Estate Firm has a total of 7 different works of art displayed at their new location in Fountain City! “My husband and I started our journey with Neighborhood Housing Homebuyer Readiness Program (HRP) in 2014. After meeting with HRP’s counselor we had a plan in place to move towards purchasing our first home. We attended classes on financial fitness to help us budget, pay off debt and learn ways to help repair our credit. We also attended a mortgage class that taught us how to find the right mortgage company for our needs and what to expect in the home buying process. As our daughters started to get older, my husband and I both knew we wanted to give them a forever home. We thought that our low-income, bad credit and debts would keep us from achieving the dream of owning a home. We knew we could not give up. We worked with Russell and the Homebuyer Readiness Program for two years. After a lot of hard work, we had paid off our old debts and raised our credit score. We were almost ready to buy our first house! The HRP staff are some of the most amazing people we have ever met. They helped us so much and never once gave up on our family. New Drone Regulations and their Impact on Real Estate by Sean Hansen The FAA & DOT have recently finalized rules for the use of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), which are commonly referred to as drones. Realtors® have struggled with the pros and cons of using video drones for home marketing since they first came out. If you feel that a drone is worth owning, it’s probably still worth using, but be sure to keep the new rules in mind. Here are some of the things you need to know and how they’ll affect your real estate business. 1. The operator will need to be a licensed with a remote pilot certificate rated for a small UAS or directly supervised by someone with these qualifications. 2. Before any flight, the operator must ensure the UAS is safe and in good working order. 3. All UAS drone flights must be performed within line of sight of the operator for the purposes of safety. 4. The FAA currently hasn’t released any privacy rules regarding data or image collection throughout their program.

Are you ready to serve up a summer dish sure to please? Fire up the grill for these delicious grilled chicken breasts, served with sweet grilled peaches and a chipotle dressing with just the right amount of kick.

3 large peaches, with fuzz rinsed away, cut into wedges

Prepare grill at a medium-high heat.

4 boneless chicken breasts ⅓ cup peach preserves ⅓ cup peach nectar 4 tsp red wine vinegar 2 tsp adobo sauce (spooned from canned chipotle chiles) Extra virgin olive oil: 2 tsp for dressing, 1 tbsp for brushing Fresh cilantro: 1 tsp chopped, plus whole sprigs for garnish Salt Pepper

In a medium bowl, combine peach preserves, peach nectar, red wine vinegar, adobo sauce, chopped cilantro, and 2 tsp olive oil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Set aside ¼ cup of peach dressing. This will be used for brushing. Brush the peach wedges with olive oil and dressing. Repeat this process with the chicken. Sprinkle both with salt and pepper. Grill chicken until cooked all the way through, about 7 minutes per side. Grill peaches, about 2 minutes per side, until slightly charred. Plate the cooked chicken surrounded by peach wedges and drizzled with dressing. Garnish with cilantro sprigs.

Reduce some of the stress with these tips on how to save money and stay organized as you get the kids back to school. Know What They’ll Need: When it comes to back to school shopping, one of the easiest ways to save money and get organized at the same time is by knowing what your kids will need before school even begins. Most schools post a list of necessary items by grade on their websites before summer’s end. Get organized at home first by sorting through the supplies you already have, and discarding anything that is no longer usable. Visit dollar, craft, and discount stores for the best prices on supplies. Closets Count: The same rule of knowing what’s on hand applies to shopping for back to school clothing as well—sort through last year’s school clothes to see what needs to be replaced or can be passed along to a younger child. Take the opportunity to organize your kids’ closets with DIY shoe caddies and storage bins; you’ll save yourself frustrating last minute searches for that missing shoe or mitten later on. Set up an Organization Station: Getting the family ready for work and school in the morning can be chaotic. Streamline the process by designating a spot near the front door to keep everything the kids will need for school that day. Use wall pockets or magazine caddies from the discount store to hold schoolwork in color coded folders, and keep permission slips or other important papers from getting lost by clipping them to an inexpensive oversized calendar; use it to note everything from when assignments are due to school holidays. Do Lunch Right: Nothing is worse on a rushed morning than realizing you didn’t pack school lunches the night before. Solve the problem by organizing areas of your kitchen to speed up the lunch packing process. Keep grab and go items in clear storage containers in your refrigerator—they’ll make it easy to see when supplies are running low. Give a kitchen cabinet the same lunch-only designation and use it to store lunch boxes, sandwich bags, and frequently used items such as peanut butter. Stay ahead of the game and save money by planning lunches a week in advance and buying snack items in bulk. Get a Handle on Homework: Good organization is equally important at the end of the day when everyone is home from school with projects and homework to be done. Get the kids into the routine of hitting the books after school by deeming an area of your home as a homework zone, complete with bought-in-bulk school supplies. Forego spending lots of money on a new laptop for the kids by buying a refurbished model from a computer repair or office supply store, or ask friends and family if they have an older system they’d be willing to pass along. Stay organized, save money, and have a great school year!
