Transitional Designs Transitioning living environments from ordinary into extraordinary Judy had passion and appreciation for design and decorating at a young age as she watched her father build custom homes and commercial buildings. She learned first- hand as she watched her mother assist with these interior projects. By the age of twelve Judy followed suit as she began rearranging the art, accessories and furnishings in her homes and in other homes to create more functional and personalized space. Her art and design education began in high school in the San Francisco bay area and continued by attending colleges in CA, WA and OR where she graduated as a Certified Interior Custom Designer. Judy also has the honor of being an Associate Member of Northwest Society of Interior Designers.

merchandising, branding and marketing. As an event coordinator for a production company she worked closely on the overall project management for designing and planning decorative themes for private and corporate events and trade shows. Her design projects in Seattle encompassed designing an art gallery, several retail stores, and a commercial industrial building into a fireplace showroom, with offices, conference room, and reception area. Judy takes design elements to the exterior areas of homes as well, having had several years experience working for a privately owned wholesale and commercial nursery and with a commercial landscaping company. That experience won her an acknowledgment and an award for design and creativity for her own personal garden in the Seattle Arboretum Competition.

“Making it all come together for my clients is what I love to do!”

Judy as they say, “has worn many hats”! Design experiences have taken shape in many ways for her as she was highly involved in the world of high fashion in San Francisco and Seattle as an Account Coordinator for Chanel and other fashion houses. Tsugawa Nursery By Judy Gorham

K

nown throughout the Clark County area, Tsugawa Nursery is a mecca for those who love the crisp lines and artistic edge of a Japanese-style landscape. Located just off Interstate 5 in Woodland, the nursery is not only convenient but also a peaceful place for garden daydreaming. Wandering the nursery is guaranteed to inspire you to great heights in gardening! After over 30 years of strawberry farming in the Woodland area, opening this business was a major step for Mabel Tsugawa, who began doing business at Tsugawa Nursery in 1981. The 5 acre nursery is still family owned and operated. Their nursery carries supplies for gardening, garden art, koi and water garden supplies, bonsai pots and plants DV ZHOO DV WUHHV DQG EXVKHV Ă RZHULQJ SODQWV DQG IUXLWV DQG vegetables seasonally.Tired of waiting for Spring? In addition to the nursery, the family cultivates ten acres in Woodland with a variety of plants which you’ll see at the nursery marked “Tsugawa Grownâ€?. Besides the vast array of living things, Tsugawa also carries pots, statuary, pond supplies, bird feeders and chimes, gardening tools and supplies, seeds and bulbs, soil, fertilizer and disease prevention products. In the main building there is a wide assortment of indoor plants and a big display of “help sheetsâ€? for every kind of plant. That’s something an amateur garGHQHU OLNH PH Ă€QGV WUXO\ KHOSIXO

Classes and seminars are held at the nursery, many without charge. Garden club meetings are hosted on site. By bringing their fresh berries to the nursery in season, the Tsugawa family shares their bounty with their customers. The friendly and knowledgable staff is willing to assist you with any and all questions.

Tsugawa has a really great website with hints and tips, sales and events and YouTube videos about plants and the like. Don’t hesitate to come to Woodland and visit Tsugawa Nursery for a creative lift before planting season is upon us.
