It’s no secret that natural wooden decor has made its way into our homes, from carvings for the walls to natural wooden crates made into shelving. Now that wooden look seeps into the nursery. This year, wood panel wall pieces are big, and often splashed with phrases or names. For cribs, reclaimed wood or natural wood tones are on the rise, but they still compete with the traditional white and espresso tones.

Along with cribs as a centerpiece, there is also a trend towards bold statement lighting fixtures. Pendants or chandeliers sparkle from the ceiling, drawing the eye upwards as you glance around the room. Just a quick stroll through Pinterest, and we see large lampshade fixtures, lighting made to look like wood, main lights with dangling mobile pieces (a great way to include your chosen animal or shape), or large modern bulbs.
Cribs are essential to the nursery, and they’ve got something to say! In 2016, we see statement cribs in the baby’s rooms as more than a sleep place, but an art centerpiece. Crib manufacturers are getting bold, playing with the shapes, materials, and colors of the crib. One maker even uses solid, colored acrylic pieces as one side of the crib’s wall.

N O M M O C R O DIY TIPS F PROBLEMS PLUMBING Whether you’re a new homeowner or have been handy with a wrench, snake and other tools for years, there are some situations that require more than a plumbing amateur’s skills. From the kitchen sink to the toilet and pipes underneath your home, these problems can occur at any time. As a homeowner,, you should know how to handle them and when to call a professional.
CLOGGED DRAINS OR TOIILETS When the water that’s sitting in a bathtub, toilet or sink won’t go down the drain, you have a problem. Start the repair process by first determining what caused the problem. Is it a clump of hair or a grease build-up? Something worse, perhaps? Whatever the case, finding out about the problem first is essential to finding a solution. Most toilet clogs can be handled with your trusty plunger. The clog in your drain will likely go away if you use a commercial grade drain cleaner. In this case, be sure to wear gloves and a protective mask at all times. If the th clog l persists i t after ft a ffew titimes, it might i ht bbe titime tto call the professionals. Yoou don’t want to overdo it with the drain cleaner because you might end up hurting yourself and damaging the pipes. Professional plumbers have tools that can help identify the problem much easier, such as snakes and video cameras. They’ll be able to use one of their many declogging tools to remove your clog in no time.

LEAKY Y FIXT T TURE S A leaky fixture, such as a faucet, can be extremely annoying. Luckily, you only need a few tools t and some basic knowledge to fix this type of problem m. First, remove the handle by removingg the screw that attaches it to the faucet. Then, try tightening the packing nut which is located at the base of thhe stem. After you’ve tightened this nut, place the handle back b onto the faucet and test to see if the leak is gone. If this simple process doesn’t work, you may need to replace som me necessary parts, such as washers or nuts, or it may be tim me to get a new faucet altogether.
BURST PIPE Regardless of the reason, a burst pipe can cause thouusands of dollars in damage if not rectified in an approopriate amount of time. The best way to fix a burst pipe is with th a C clamp. The first step is to turn off the water compleetely. Then,, pplace a piece p of rubber over the exposed p area of the pipe. Secure the rubber by placing a piece of woood on top and then tightening down both pieces with a C claamp. Make sure you tighten the C clamp until both the piecce of wood and rubber are secure. In most cases, burst pipes can only be fixed temporarrily by homeowners. Once you’ve turned off the water and secured the pipe, call a professional; they might havee to replace the pipe altogether.

If you have an electric water heater, somee of the causes may be a tripped circuit breaker, a bad tthermostat or a faulty electric heatinng element.
