2015 is here and once again it’s time to say thank you for another great year helping people achieve their real estate dreams. It’s a pleasure to help folks better their lives through home ownership. 2014 was another banner year for real estate in the Tri-Cities. Sales were up 3% from 2013, with 3,477 homes sold. The exciting part of this is that more homes were sold last year than in 2010, when there was artificial market stimulation from government rebates. The average sale price also increased 2%, up to $213,400. It’s a continuation of a trend that’s been going on here for several years. All of this is really good news for the Tri-Cities, pointing to the stability of our local economy. So what’s in store for 2015? This will be the year for the move-up buyer. Housing inventory is at its lowest level in 5 years. People with homes to sell will find plenty of buyers looking, especially in the more affordable ranges, with less competition. Folks looking to move up will still find great deals in the over $350K market, and new construction is always going to be a good option for some. It’s still 20% of our yearly sales.
