Explore the Mutianyu section of Great Wall

Introduction Mutianyu Great Wall is located in the Huairou District in Beijing, about 73 kilometers away from downtown Beijing. It was built on the ruins of the Beiqi Great Wall under the supervision of the General Xu Da in the early age of Ming Dynasty. In the second year of Ming Yongle years( 1404A.D.), Mutianyu guan Pass was built. In the third year of Longqing years(A.D. 1569), When Tan Lun and Qi Jiguang were defending the Beijing area, they renovated the Great Wall again. Now what we call as Mutianyu Great Wall is one of best preserved section of the Great Wall from Ming Dynasty.

Itinerary We start off at 8:00 from the hotel, after about 1.5 hours driving, get off in the parking lots.We are going to next parking lots by the shuttle bus, which is close to the entrance of the greatwall,and then,we are going to the wall by cable car,chairlift or foot. We turn left when we are on the greatwall.It is possible to


walk to No.20 watch tower.We could climb over the wall to reach No.23 tower if you would like to walk longer.It’s less crowded than Badalin or Juyongguan section so that it’s a good choice for a pleasant trip. Walk back to the way out.Hiking time is 3-4 hours. The chairlift and Toboggan are No.6 watch tower on the wall;The cable car is No.14 watch tower on the wall;Walking way are at No.8 and No.10 watch tower on the wall.

Advice The fees for the slide rail and the cable car are not included in the quoted price; you can pay for it or go up and down the mountain by walk. The fee for the slide rail and chairlift is CNY100 per person for both way.One way of cable car or Toboggan is CNY80.
