The Simatai section is mostly visited by the guests for a cable car trip. You can take a trek from Gubeikou to Jinshanling winds through the woods and rugged terrains. The trek is for about 6 hours. The travelers are also taken to visit the Chinese military base from the trek. You should not miss exploring this trek while visiting the Great Wall of China.


You can also take 80km long trek which passes through the woodland and terraced farmland followed by some rugged stones and rough patches in the path. The trek begins in Huangyaguan which is a three-hour drive from Beijing city. You won’t be able to get over the picturesque view that you see during the trek. Take a two-hour drive from Beijing and visit one of the best sections of the wall at Mutianyu. Visitors sometimes find it tough to take a 40-minute hike to the wall by them or by the cable car. There is an hour long walk and take champagne and a tour guide along to know more about the history of the wall.

Jinshanling is one of the less crowded stretches near Beijing. It just a two and a half hour drives away from the capital. It has some of the featured towers, steep mountains, and ornage. It has partition walls, text bricks and house blocking stones. Hiking this wall is like exploring the most impressive parts of the history of the Great Wall. You can include camping in the villages in your Great Wall hiking tour as well. Choose the campsites wisely so that you can have a wonderful view of the Great Wall. Hike to the Beijing tower where the bricks are stamped with the dates on which they were actually put in to construct the tower. The scenery of the Great Wall differs with seasons. Photographers get to take different pictures in different seasons. The best time to visit is during the summer and the spring season, especially in May, September, and October. You can have a refreshing and sunny visit to the Great Wall of China.


As the hike takes 2-3 hours at least so don’t forget to carry some snacks along with you packed in your bag. There is some temperature variation in day and night and hence carrying clothes is also a good call. Take to hike the Great Wall of China and make the most of it.
