Modern Minimal allows the focus to be on something more than space. Everything should be functional and add value to the room; for example, in a dining room, we need a table and chairs - these items have to ‘speak’ to one another and have to be capable of relating in terms of form, colour, lines, shape. They must work together in their raw shape to create an intense space. The design architecture includes the use of reductive design elements, without ornamentation or decoration, condensing the content and form of the design to its bare essentials. It reveals to be the core essence of the Modern Minimal interiors.

A minimally designed space assimilates functionality with an open floor plan, an abundance in light, and simple line furnishings that are exceptionally crafted and are at the same time comfortable. The aim is to create a soothing and inviting space that has a timeless aesthetic. Modern Minimal is about keeping a space simple, uncluttered and accentuating the attractive architectural features of a space. The palette is mostly monochromatic and the colour is only used as an accent, essential only to give that pop of colour, that touch of ‘life’ that brings the whole room together, in elevated design elegance.

When creating a Modern Minimal ambience, it is all about base colour: unobtrusive hues are the key here - from eggshell, light greys, beiges and every other cure inspired tone in between - for these colours have a fresh, clean look that inspires a sense of calm. A space with natural light is most likely to look warmer, so keep an open floor plan, using also a cooler shade of white to balance the room. When adding pops of colour, be sure to use solid pigments which are pleasant to the eyes and fuse well with the neutrals that you already have.

When incorporating the Modern Minimal design to common areas such as the kitchen, we should not only make sure to incorporate the necessary appliances and seating required, but also ensure that each extent is imbued with its own sense of style. Combining a soft and neutral colour, such as white, with wood is at the core of this style, and so is giving a slice of colour such as black. White and black kitchens are a common sight in the Modern Minimal style. In this simple design, bits of colour in the way of natural wood, yellow, and red manages to shine through.

The biggest challenge is to make a room look warm and welcoming. A monochromatic colour palette can make a space look cold, so using a combination of different shades, tints and textures will help to create a dynamic atmosphere. The different textures compliment each other and create a soothing atmosphere: shapes should be quite uncomplicated, having colours and textures creating a harmonious ambience.

Through a focus on a handful of elements, we are not living with less, but rather drawing attention to the shape, colour, and texture of things and spaces we inhabit. Modern Minimal is about showing restraint and a careful pairing down of elements that get to the essence of a well-conceived space: creating functional design elements in the most compact way is the key to a minimalist design. By eliminating the ‘extras’ and the ‘noise’, the focus remains on the purpose and function of the room.

The focus on a room is often created by the furniture and accessories in it. Disjointed wall art and overdone window treatments distract us from the function of the space. A simple table light or a brightly coloured furniture product is more than enough to create an impact without causing havoc. Modern Minimal spaces are known for their balance and simplified beauty. For a less chaotic and aesthetically peaceful home, embrace the Modern Minimal design.

After embracing the Modern Minimal Design, we have to ask ourselves what really is necessary, what can be eliminated, stored out of sight and organise the space accordingly. Always being consistent with this process and returning to each room every few months with a fresh pair of eyes - you will find that there is always something to minimise every time. To make sure the surfaces remain uncluttered, assign a place and space for everything. For every new item that you bring in, one old item should go out, as to not affect the harmony and balance.

A Modern Contemporary interior design incorporates large windows, unique shapes, open plans, all in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The final touch of this interior design is to typically use natural elements such as fir or cedar and stone. The finishing details and furniture are in-ornate and use clean lines. Comfort and premium quality are key values for this design style; walls are often white adding to the expansive feeling, with bare floors, and if area rugs are used, they are typically made of wool and neutral in colour.

Not every home is made to handle Modern Contemporary furnishing or interior design. Begin with rooms that are large, open and devoid of any intricate crown mouldings or beadboard. The end result of your modern contemporary design should be airy, open and clean. Keep this in mind as you design to form a home that melds function and beauty into one. Shiny metal, polished wood and cool tile are the textures you will most often find in the modern contemporary spaces. Floors are most often wood or tile, although rugs are also used to add warmth and colour to a room.

By focusing on colour, space, and shape the interiors are sleek and fresh. Be it straight vertical or horizontal lines, or even curved shapes, the Modern Contemporary lines are evident and very present. The bare space on the walls or in-between furniture items becomes as important as the areas filled with objects - less is more, so every and each individual item stands out as unique.

Modern Contemporary design is the fusion between what is known as Modern Design and Contemporary Design. The later means ‘of the moment’ and Modern Design comes from the middle of the 20th century. Nonetheless, a stream of modernism continues today, and especially in architecture, modern design elements form the basis of many contemporary homes. Houses with large windows and open floors - Modern Design are infused with new and innovative materials from Contemporary Design. Modern Contemporary maintains the modern format whilst adding contemporary elements by picking up the latest trends in the design world.

Modern Contemporary harmonises the straight and curved lines, which are the eye-catching architectural elements in a room: for example a shapely fireplace or room dividing screen. Neutral shades are the go-to here but you can also opt for some bold colours to give that pop. A variety of textures also gives visual aid. Ambient light fills the majority of the room and allows you to move around safely; it usually comes from recessed lighting, track lighting or wall-mounted fixtures.

Mid-Century Modern home sets itself apart from the others due to its straight and flat horizontal lines, an abundance of glass and large windows, in order to connect the outside with the inside, providing easy access to natural light. They also have open, split-level spaces with separation elements such as free-standing cabinets, and minimal ornamentation, believing in form following function creating thus uncluttered spaces. This style is unique in the sense that is driven by innovative, mass-produced furniture and accents, so if you are looking for a unique style for your unique personality, this is the style for you.

Modern Mid-Century has clean lines, curved and smooth surfaces to create a minimised look - less becomes more. The heavy ornamented items of other styles are replaced with slimmed-down furniture in open spaces. Neutral coloured walls allow the furniture shapes and colour to top and take over the room - the texture is also very important. The shag rug, rough stone fireplace, smooth glass table, sleek ceramic light, and furniture fabric all work together. Patterns emerge in abstract painting, pillows, and pottery. The wood and glass of the coffee table suggest the lines and shape of modernist sculpture. Using a few key items of furniture will really define your space and create a focal point for your room. Once you have that key product, the rest of the room will fall into place around it.

Modern Mid-Century homes are spacious. Rather than subdividing the home into multiple small rooms, the kitchen, living and dining area are kept as open as possible. While the bedrooms and bathrooms remain private, they often feature large windows so that the occupants are always connected with the outdoors. On the outside, these homes are known for their sleek, angular, sometimes boxy style, often featuring concrete floors, plain masonry and stonework.

Modern Mid-Century is still popular today for myriad reasons. Its characteristics make it a perfect fit for today’s contemporary, modern and eclectic home decor styles. A connection to Scandinavian minimalism and the incorporation of natural materials is a core feature that fuels its following. The design philosophy is about focusing on the basic elements and the function of the item. Big and heavy furniture was replaced with light and airy spaces that boasted neat proportions and new functional shapes, using both organic and geometric forms. Wood details are still a unifying element throughout this design, which springs from the Scandinavian influence. Finished and unfinished wood is used for decor details like doorknobs, ceilings and storage. On furnishings, a moulded plastic chair might be set on wooden legs, or a modern light fixture may sport wooden elements.

Modern Mid-Century Style is appealing to everyone. Warm, earthy tones create nature-inspired interiors, with trendy colours such as pink, grey, turquoise, black, yellow, olive green, burnt umber, pumpkin and mustard yellow adding a touch of ‘life’ into the room through the accent furniture. Although lights have unique shapes and the art value, you can never ignore the function of the light in the first place. Those styles and kinds of light must also fit the function of the light inside the room. Light design at this style is pretty much standing and somehow quirky so it usually is able to give a particular accent in the room.

Modern Classic homes have its classic architectural details highlighted by the accent furniture with modern lines and the classic colour palette, such as grey. Neutral walls create the perfect background for art pieces, having statement walls - one wall painted in a different shade than the rest of the room - also brings in an interesting modern edge. Add a bold flash of colour with modern furniture items, rugs or curtains. Adding a bold light fixture to a room can create an attractive and still functional focal product. A harmonisation of Modern and Classic design should mix minimalism with a splash of colour.

Modern Classic design entails combining modern elements that perfectly blend with the elegance and sophistication of the classic design. Perfect symmetry in the overall decorations and furniture that adorn each room is key to master this design style. Adorns should not be many, choosing simplicity in the product’s design and where they are placed as to make sure our eye goes immediately there. The chairs, sofas and other types of upholstery items should have the finest fabrics and textures.

Modern Classic is the blend of old and new styles, celebrating the best of each in order to create a look that is timeless. This style gives us the freedom of adding a dose of colour, texture and pattern through a rug, that can either be a plain rug or a bright and cheerful one with a geometric print. When it comes to furniture, choose a luxuriously upholstered and classic item with simple legs instead of the elaborately turned leg so typical of the classic design.

Modern design is inherently minimalist, while classic design can become busy and overdone. To expertly blend these styles, choose eye-catching focus items to set in minimalist backdrops. An excellent way to combine these two styles without veering too much into either particular ambience is to first pick out a great antique furniture product and build the room around this item, finding both classic and modern options that complement the antique. This way, you can feature a timeless antique item, without overpowering its presence or leaving the rest of the room drab.

The neutral palette is king, ranging from white, beige, grey and other light shade colours. MODERN CONTEMPORARY The Modern Contemporary style has clean architectural lines, being minimal to a fault - the featured architectural designs showcase a sophisticated and timeless elegance. The Modern Contemporary spaces have an open-space concept, with the kitchen merging with the dining or living room, or both dining and living room merging with each other. This results in an airy and comfortable living space, avoiding ornate designs. Modern Contemporary has furniture with exposed legs: sofas, ottomans and chairs tend to feature bare legs and slim bases; showcasing also reflective surfaces like exposed glass and metals. There is also the use of natural wooden materials going from end tables with a metal base to rustic reclaimed wooden tabletops.
