SUSTAINABILITY: ANTONIOLUPI EMPLOYS RESIN AND CORK FOR SUSTAINABLE PEDESTAL SINK A new pedestal sink by Antoniolupi focuses on more than eye-catching aesthetics, which, by the way, it has in spades. Bolgheri, conceived by Gumdesign’s Laura Fiaschi and Gabriele Pardi, begins with a base in cork, the lightweight material that’s harvested from cork oaks without harming the living tree, reconstituted, and bound with natural resin. It’s topped by a basin in Cristalmood, Antoniolupi’s proprietary translucent coloured resin that’s fully recyclable. The result is a sleek and sustainable fixture boasting texture and contrast—soft and matte, hard and shiny. The basin’s colour options are numerous, while the base comes in honeytoned Natural or darker brown Toasted.

BERNHARDT DESIGN AND ITALIAN FURNISHING BRAND PLANK ANNOUNCE LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP Finding the perfect business partner is no easy task, and for Jerry Helling, president of Bernhardt Design, the search ended with Michael Plank, CEO of Italian furnishing manufacturer Plank. Earlier this month, the two brands announced the launch of their long-term partnership, Bernhardt Design + Plank, which makes Plank’s products and outdoor furnishings easily accessible in the North American market through a distribution agreement with Bernhardt Design.

CRISTINA CELESTINO RECALLS LOMBARDY LANDMARKS FOR CLÉ TILE WALL COVERING Nestled in Italy’s Lombardy region, Gonzaga is a town rife with both Renaissance history and Cotto, the fine terra-cotta clay that forms on the floodplain of the River Po. Masters of the medium make up the town’s 100-yearold Fornace Brioni, where secrets of the trade have been passed down for generations. Though historic, the family-run company continues to evolve, ergo in 2017 leaders Alessio and Alberto Brioni hired lauded Italian designer Cristina Celestino to oversee creative direction. Their collaboration now yields Giulio Romano, a wall covering for Clé Tile. The handcrafted tiles come in two shapes: a long, fluted column and a coordinating end cap, both 8 inches wide. Combined, their form echoes those pillars and mouldings found in the region’s landmarks, from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Sabbioneta to the Ducal Palace of Mantua.

Carlo Donati’s Dolce Vita is here to impress and make the world fall in love with the Italian designers mid-century modern ideas. KNOLL PRESENTS THE NEW COLLECTIONS FOR 2020 BY PIERO LISSONI The long-term collaboration between Piero Lissoni and Knoll has evolved over time in a range of various projects poised halfway between the home and the office: sofas, chairs, armchairs, bookcases and tables like Avio, Matrioska, Red Baron, Grasshopper, KN and Gould. The holistic, sartorial approach of the Milan-based architect, driven by exceptional aesthetic sensibilities, has had a major impact on the Knoll style, reinforcing the dialogue between tradition and a contemporary spirit, in keeping with the historical legacy of the company.

MATIC – DESIGNED BY PIERO LISSONI: Matic offers new functional and aesthetic possibilities. Modular or linear, the collection stands out for its ample seats of different depths, covered in leather or fabric. It is composed of modules, including chaise longues and terminal peninsula units, to provide seats upholstered with evenly-sized squares, or detailed with a T-shaped seam, combined with a special curved back featuring a mechanism that can be turned to adjust comfort for relaxing, reading or conversation.

JUMBO’S CHICLY CARTOONISH CREATURE COMFORTS IS A TESTAMENT TO THE DIGITAL SPHERE “Our physical worlds have gotten smaller, but the digital one has ballooned.” So states Jumbo founders Justin Donnelly and Monling Lee. Not only is their chicly cartoonish Creature Comforts a testament to the digital universe but it was also launched at Sight Unseen’s Offsite Online, the annual furniture show that this year, for the first time, was presented virtually. The fivepiece collection presents a cast of characters: Hero, a curvy armchair in emerald-green spun aluminum; Sport, a neon-yellow neoprene sofa inspired by tennis balls; Hung, a mirror with a polished-aluminum surface that drapes against the wall à la toilet paper (nodding to the TPsparse early days of COVID-19); and the Mop pendant fixture, replete with a mane of silicone tubes befitting its name

its

first collection of interiors with t h e s i g n a t u r e stylings of the Italian designer. Maison Matisse is expanding its collection with a set of pieces designed by Cristina Celestino, whose rich artistic vision and use of decorative motifs blend with the legacy of the past. A sofa, an armchair, a folding screen, two coffee tables, a rug, a wallpaper and a selection of home accessories are the stars of this second permanent collection, inspired by the iconic still-life Intérieur Aux Aubergine (1911), which is regarded as one of Henri Matisse’s most decorative paintings. of fashion, art and design. This collection was developed around three themes. The textures drawn by Matisse often all-over, are a combination of geometric shapes and organic forms, layers of signs and references that play with scale effects, orientalism and abstract floral design. The furniture in the Intérieur aux Aubergines collection, inspired by the eponymous painting by Henri Matisse (1911), is accompanied by a series of decorative objects designed by Cristina Celestino.
