Really smart and talented people want to work with equally smart and talented people. Hiring mediocre talent or putting good people in wrong positions will lead to downward spirals. First of all, because it will frustrate epic people, in the end making them leave the company, and second of all because mediocre talent has a tendency to hire mediocre talent themselves.
